I really like this. DH took three weeks, his work offered more but he felt like he had to get back to his team. I wish DH's work was more flexible and he could have started back part time, I could still use him around for longer then the weekend.

Great article! And for sure echoes my own feelings, too. My employer doesn't offer a full year or anything, but the benefit is generous for the first 12 weeks and enough that I could nearly double my maternity leave for LO2.

People have been very respectful of my decision to take what amounts to 5 months off, but it was not an easy choice to make!

I think the Netflix benefit is awesome-definitely hope to hear more stories in the same vein!

I LOVE that he chose to take 8 weeks off!!! So many guys return to work after just one or two weeks! So even if he's not taking a whole year off, he's definitely taking advantage of the extra time Netflix is allowing and I think that's awesome!

Very cool that he can make his own way. A lot of freedom in that and obvious support.

We've chatted about Netflix's parental leave on here before.

My dear friend just wrote about his experience, and I thought I'd share here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/my-paternity-leave-netflix-casey-rosenthal

His thoughts echo a lot of my own ... navigating the waters of parenting and having a career.

I think some of you will enjoy his perspective, as there hasn't been a lot of coverage since the initial announcement of the policy.
