I love that piece! But I'd be concerned that the paint would not wear well when exposed to moisture as well as sunlight. You might end up with something that looks a lot less blue than it did originally...and it's hard to say if that would happen five years from now, when you'd be ready for an update anyway, or five months from now, when you'd be super disappointed.

I've seen some similar pieces (though not as pretty colors) at Target and Homegoods. If the price were significantly less and you're into DIY at all, you could probably add a blue tint.

Thanks for the responses. Art.com doesn't know more detail about the metal, but its only 5.3 lbs so likely aluminum? More importantly it's excluded from discounts except for free shipping. I'll have to sleep on it some more.

I really like it,, but I don't know about outside.. not just for rust but for dust. I feel like there would be a good amount of build up on that. But I guess it kind of depends on the area and how much you're willing to upkeep. Very nice though!!

Do you know what metal it is made of? Aluminum should not rust (though some might have additives or paints that will) and steel will rust eventually just from the moisture in the air.

I think it may totally just depend on the materials of the specific piece. If it's metal I would think it would be fine in the short term on a covered patio. Long term over 5 years or so it may rust.

Today I'm finishing up the DIY water table for LO. It's going to be painted Olympic's Dragonfly. I found a metal art piece that is also blue for the patio. It's a little more than what I wanted to spend, hence the post.

How has metal wall art faired for you in your outdoor spaces? The patio is covered, but if there was a bad rain it might get sideways rained on.
