I am in the midst of trying to figure out what our next steps are as well. I have PCOS, but all of my hormones are fairly normal. Just hundreds of cysts on both ovaries and extremely irregular ovulation if any at all. 50mg of Clomid did not work for me, but my three rounds of 100mg did make me ovulate, usually on CD 18. Unfortunately, I've had two IUIs with my OB and both have been unsuccessful. This last cycle, we ended up skipping the IUI due to the expense and the fact that I have an appt with an RE scheduled on Dec 11. We'll have been trying for 21 months when December gets here, so I plan to just ask my RE to do what it takes as quickly as possible, because honestly, this infertility has been extremely difficult on our marriage and our general outlook on life. I'm tired of feeling depressed and disappointed, so I'm hoping we'll have some answers soon. So I'm with you and am praying that injectables (should that be our next step) are what bring success to us. Fingers crossed for you, this journey can be very painful sometimes, but you are not alone! <3

Your PCOS sounds a lot like mine. Everything pretty normal, but I didn't respond to Clomid or Femara the first time I tried to get pregnant. I did 2 rounds of injections with timed intercourse that resulted in 1 egg each time and no pregnancy. I did trigger and use progesterone on those as well. For my third cycle, I asked my RE to up my dose of meds and we added in IUI. Still triggered and did progesterone. That was the cycle that I got pregnant. Like @KT326: I like that with injectables you're more closely monitored and your dosage can be adjusted accordingly.
I also recommend taking the day off work the day you have your IUI. I had mine early in the morning then went home, propped my hips up and just relaxed all day.

Your situation sounds almost exactly like mine! I only had one cycle on my own at 15, the rest happened when I was on BC.

I went through 4 Clomid cycles and 2 Femara cycles with timed intercourse and no successes. I switched RE's and my new one recommended IUI with injectibles. The first one didn't work but the second one did.

What I really liked about the injectibles is that the dr can look at your blood work and ultrasound then adjust the dosage accordingly. Cycle one I had to do injections for 21 days and cycle two I did them for 19 days.

ETA: Whenever my hormone levels are checked they come back within the normal range as well. I've seen 6 different drs, 2 GYN's and 1 RE say I have PCOS, the other 2 GYN's and RE say that I don't. It is quite frustrating!

Thank you, ladies. I know that as I read these boards, everyone has so much strength. I'm praying the injectable work too! Thank you for your insight and experience.

I have PCOS and clomid (on it's own) stopped working for me as well. I ended up using a combo of clomid, injectables and a trigger shot. I also had to use progesterone suppositories (in pill form) until week 12 weeks into my pregnancies.

Our first LO took 3 IUIs to get pregnant and LO 2 took 2. It's definitely an emotional roller coaster but don't give up! Good luck to you!

It's really common to be clomid-resistant if you have PCOS. I have it too, and clomid stopped working for me after 1 cycle. I responded much better to Femara. For the cycle that I conceived DS I did 7.5mg of Femara and then a couple days at the end of an injectable - Gonal-F. We did that with timed intercourse, not IUI.

Hi all, so I'm new to this blog-posting world, and am just wanting to see if there are any success stories out there that might be similar to my situation? At times, my husband and I get very discouraged, and I know that it could be a long time before we are successful, but just want to see how you all handled it, and if you have success?

Our situation: I have PCOS- have probably only had three non-stimulated ovulation cycles in my adult lifetime, otherwise placed on birth control pills or hormones to simulate. We have been TTC for 1.5 years now, and on fertility treatments for the last few months.
- Despite my PCOS, my hormones are quite normal- all within range, and by blood tests show that the eggs should be of "good quality" (RD's statement, not mine!). The DH blood work and sperm analysis was all normal and good counts, so no problems there.

-My first IUI cycle was cancelled as I was on clomid 100mg for CD 3-7, and only elicited a 12mm follicle on CD 12, and on CD 15, it had not grown at all, and my estrogen had plateaued.
- My RD wants us to do another IUI cycle but with 12-day FolliStim injections, followed by Pregnyl HCG trigger, and then progesterone suppositories after the IUI.

Since this an expensive process basically not covered by our insurance  we are waiting until Jan 2015 to do this next step.

Any words of advice/courage/etc for anyone who had a failed clomid trial (prior to the IUI), and success with injectables?

We are just hoping and praying that soon we can have a bundle of joy too!
