I'm interested in this topic too! I'll share my experience so far...

Diagnosed with PCOS, then after 3 failed IUIs, we finally conceived with IVF. AF started 9m PP, and a year and a half later, no BFP yet. But on the plus side (kind of?) my cycles are strangely normal now. 30-33-day cycles (with the occasional 38-day cycle), and OPKs show me ovulating 13-14 days before my next period begins.

We have some frosties that we're hoping to use later this summer/fall, but it'd be nice not to have to! We'll see.

I have atypical/lean PCOS diagnosed by irregular periods and ultrasound.

I've had 2 periods and 3 babies in the last 5.5 years ;)

We were NTNP for about a year before LO1 while I went off BC and then got a PCOS diagnosis when my period didn't come for like 6m. The OB told me to make an appointment with the REI doc whenever we actually wanted to TTC, so we did that, and I got pregnant w/ LO1 after 2 cycles of Clomid. I was EBF, so didn't necessarily expect my period to return anyways, but returned to the REI when LO1 was almost a year...and she suggested I'd need Clomid again whenever we wanted to TTC. We got pregnant naturally (NTNP) when LO1 was 23m...and then again when LO2 was 15m....but there was nothing obvious or predictable about my sporadic cycles in between all of that.

TL;DR: my cycle never "reset" after LO1, but we managed to have 2 more babies anyways :)

@MOMTOLITTLEB: Second time? Whoa! That's wonderful!
@bhbee: Thank you. :)
@ladybee: That's crazy! I would absolutely welcome that surprise. Sounds like going back on met seems to be a trend. I'll bring that up with my doctor next time.
@skipra: Thank you for sharing, congrats on your babes!
I believe I am the same with ovulation, through testing it was determined that I wasn't ovulating, then the first test that showed ovulation I became pregnant! But it is a hurdle!

My gym diagnosed PCOS based on my symptoms but no testing. I got pregnant with LO1 after a year and one very early mc but no medical intervention. We always knew we would want a second and figured it would take a while to conceive again so we never prevented and I was pregnant again when LO was 11 months. My period never returned and I was still breastfeeding. My period returned when LO2 was 14 months and I think had another super early miscarriage when we had an oops right around that first ovulation. AF was irregular again but we conceived LO3 first try despite very late ovulation. I was still breastfeeding so I don't know if it was that or the PCOS causing irregular ovulation. For me at least I could get pregnant when I ovulated but ovulation was infrequent and unpredictable even after being pregnant.

Our first took over a year and like you Femera did the trick. In February 2015, I saw my endocrinologist. She wanted me to go off BC and have blood work done for the next two months. In April, I started metformin. In May, I got pregnant. We had sex once in 3 months and I got pregnant with our second. I was stunned!

I have PCOS and it took almost a year for our first child. Since I knew I had PCOS, I started taking Metformin to regulate my cycles about a year before trying for our second. When we did try, I got pregnant the second time! It was a bit of a surprise but a happy one.

@DesertDreams88: I was taking progesterone for the last loss, but I don't think that was my issue. I started metformin after that and who knows if it helped. It took another few months to get another bfp and I stayed on that and progesterone until 10w with my sticky #2.

I hope you don't need many cycles for a sticky Bfp! :goodluck:

@bhbee: I'm sorry to hear about your losses. By any chance, did you take progesterone with them?

I'm going to start TTC #2 soon and my PCOS is so much better after pregnancy. So I am optimistic but cautioua. I have prescriptions for clomid, met, and progesterone.

Maybe see what your cycle is like when it comes back to decide when/how to start?

I didn't have clear pcos before #1 they said maybe since I had some signs. I was having some 90+ day cycles, they were all over. I conceived using clomid and it stuck after two early losses.

The pregnancy did seem to reset my cycles. Af came back at 7m, I was still bf. My cycles went to my new norm of 31-35 days. We didn't start trying until lo was over 18m. I was able to get pregnant quickly but had two more losses and went back to re so all in it took a while but we did get #2.

Don't try before you are ready, I know a lot of people who were surprised the second time how fast it happened! But my real advice is don't hesitate to go back to the dr if it seems like things are off. Usually if you've been treated once they look at it differently and will move more quickly to try it again, if you want that.

Hello all,
I was hoping some women would be open to sharing their experiences conceiving their second child with a previous diagnoses of PCOS.

Background:
We tried with our first for just over a year, during which I was diagnosed with PCOS and was eventually able to become pregnant with the help of femara.

I was told that pregnancy has a tendency to 'reset' your system sometimes, but wondering how that worked out for others. We aren't currently trying, but we know we want at least one more child so we're thinking of when we should start.
