Like others have said, there is just so much that varies from person to person. I was diagnosed via blood tests after 9 months of TTC. By going on a low glycemic index diet, exercising more and tracking my cycles using the methods from the "taking charge of your fertility" book, we conceived two months later.

I Have PCOS, a healthy daughter, and am pregnant with #2! All PCOS cases are different, but it's so much more common than people think. I didn't have cysts when tested but had all other markers. Took Metformin to ovulate and conceived within 12 days of starting it after months of BFN's. Not sure if metformin only works for some types of PCOS though. Our next step after 3 months of MF was going to be Clomid. GL!!! Know you are not alone!!!!

I transferred to a new RE where they finally diagnosed me. (Clinic before didn't do enough tests and had me with an unexplained diagnosis.)

In April of last year, I was diagnosed with mild insulin resistant PCOS and DOR (diminished ovarian reserve. I'm only 31.

I was given metformin to treat the PCOS and dexamethasone to treat the DOR.

We then tried to do 3 IUIs with the new diagnosis. Unfortunately they didn't work so we moved to IVF. After 3 years of TTC, we are now 17 weeks pregnant with twins.

Sending you lots of hugs. I really hope the meds you are on get you pregnant soon.

I was diagnosed with PCOS, and I kinda knew it was coming because even before going on the pill, my period was totally weird (I spotted everyday for months and months - no real period). But still, getting the diagnosis stung. It didn't help that during the phone call when I got the diagnosis, my OB gave me information for the RE and it felt like the infertility train was moving way too fast.

Of course I'm no expert, but from what I understand, PCOS can be very, very treatable. It's just a matter of taking the meds and going for appointments. It will take more of a concerted effort and more time to see that BFP, but you have EVERY reason to believe that it will happen!

I was just diagnosed on April 1st. So sorry you're in this boat, too! I got great feedback here:

@Mrs.LaFountain: I had a similar experience. After going off the pill I thought I'd never get my period. I think it ended up being 65 days. I had testing done and learned I have PCOS in addition to the hypothyroidism I was already treating. I thought I had to go on clomid, have monitoring, even had the RE talking to me about separating embryos. I was 29 and had never really tried naturally. My husband and I were turned off by all the pressure. So we decided to give it a year or so and conceived our son by tracking my longer than average cycles. I have seen my friends have great success with fertility treatments, I just wanted to see if maybe we could avoid it and fortunately we could. I guess my point to you is that PCOS has many degrees of severity and may not be all that bad. I'm really hopeful about having a second child someday but I don't take it for granted.

It is all scary at first so much info but you are in the right place!
I don't have PCOS but have taken Provera many many times to bring on my period and clomid to ovulate
Biggest thing I would say is ask for at least cycle day 21 blood work when taking it to see of you ovulate
Best case would for them to even do ultrasounds to monitor your follicles and ovulation!
My OBGYN would only do blood work but an RE did both!

So about two weeks ago I went to see my OBGYN about not having a period since coming off the pill in Jan. Had blood drawn and ultrasound scheduled. All blood work came back in the normal range. Had the ultrasound today , shows cysts on my ovaries. PCOS no ovulating , no period. Starting progesterone tomorrow for 10 days then clomid once my period happens.

I am so nervous about all of this. I know I'm in very early stages of this. But I would love to hear any advice, experiences with this. I have done alot of reading online, but would love to have some real people help as well.
