I highly recommend acupuncture. I love it! I don't know if your RE will feel this is the best treatment for you, but I have been on metformin for my PCOS for the last two years. It has really helped to regulate my cycles. Maybe that will be something that works for you too! Good luck to you!

@samanthayvonne: Good luck! Acupuncture is really nice, in my view. I actually got pg without it immediately after going off the pill (in my opinion, my cycles were still being regulated by my BCP, but who knows?), but I did it throughout my pregnancy.

Keep us posted!

@samanthayvonne: femara is awesome! No crazy side effects like with clomid, decreased chance of multiples, shorter half life so there's no fetal exposure (out of your system by implantation), almost no chance of hyperstimulation, doesn't thin uterine lining, and all the info I've read shows better outcomes for women with PCOS on femara vs clomid. Obviously, I'm a fan ;) I'm so glad you found an RE you like. Best of luck!

@emg86: I'm on a weightloss journey right now. I'm about 155, where 6 months ago I was almost 200! Yikes! But I'm still not having a period without the help of provera. I'm hoping that if I can get down to about 140-145 that everything will regulate for me. Fingers crossed. :)

@ShootingStar: My husband and I have decided that the drive is well worth it. :) We found a wonderful RE just about 115 miles south of us. So my next step is to call and make an appointment with her. What are the side affects of the femera? And since I'm on metformin 500mg 3x a day, will metformin help or make things worse?

As you can tell, I know very little about all of this, and it seems as though my GYN knows about as much as I do on infertility. This is the 2nd forum I've actually signed up for. I have looked at soulcysters and its a wonderful site, but I haven't had any responses.

I'm sorry you can't find an RE closer to you. I never responded to clomid so we moved on to an RE. I never conceived under any fertility treatments, but after losing a little weight my cycles regulated (I hadn't had a period in 3yrs) and then we got pregnant...which was a total surprise. I also tried acupuncture cause I've heard about lots of people being successful that way but couldn't find someone who I trusted and thought was worth the money.

@samanthayvonne: I'm sorry you can't find a good doctor near you. Maybe ask around to see if any would work with your local OBGYN for monitoring and then do phone consults as needed. Surprisingly doctors often do this.

I HIGHLY urge you to see an RE. If you have PCOS and are Clomid resistant, you're just wasting time being treated by a GYN. You'll need monitoring (ultrasound with blood work) to see if the medication is working. I have PCOS and was Clomid resistant and what worked for me is Femara with a couple injections at the end of Gonal-F.

I'm sorry you don't have easier access to an RE in your area, that must be difficult. I remember reading several threads where women with pcos responded to femera when they hadn't responded to clomid. My RE added a couple of shots of bravelle during one of my clomid cycles, perhaps ask your doc if that would help? Have you read any of the forums over at SoulCysters? They have some pcos infertility forums that may be helpful http://www.soulcysters.net/forumdisplay.php/42-Infertility-and-Trying-to-Conceive?s=b315e97f69c8b8bfe18e2d6e51ff010a

Has your doctor talked to you about Femera? I've heard that can help in women with pcos who don't respond to clomid. Also, my nurse recommends a supplement called Pregnitude for pcos. Are you seeing a RE?

I got diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago. My husband and I have been trying to concieve for about 6 months. We did the first round of provera/clomid. The first cycle failed, so my gyno increased the dosage if clomid for my second cycle. I went in about a week ago for an ultrasound and found 30+ cysts on both of my ovaries and that I am still unresponsive to the clomid. At this point, I want to give up. I was just wondering what the next step would be and what I could do to naturally increase my chances of concieving?
