Just took her temperature because she is up screaming--refusing to nurse and refusing her pacifier.

It's 102.3. Is that too high? This is with regular doses of Tylenol.

@tlynne: Strange. My friend (who I mentioned in my OP) also says that this is the only shot her kids have reacted to.
I am not going to lie--I am a bit nervous. Poor baby seemed SO miserable. She is currently sleeping.

The ONLY vaccine my son reacted to was this one. He screamed, cried, couldn't get comfortable, ran a significant fever.... We definitely sought help from the doctor, who saw him in the ER and suggested a very watchful eye and an alternating schedule (every two hours) of children's Motrin and children's Tylenol (dosed for his size). After the meds, he slept...and slept...and slept....a very deep sleep. I was in contact with the doctor and our nurse line several times through the next 12 hours. He is now in a slightly modified schedule to monitor his reactions, but he has never had such a problem with any other shot.

@MamaMoose: OK. I have been referring to Dr. Google and it seems like a lot of people notice the tiredness or almost seeming "weak." I think I am going to put a call in to the on-call nurse right now just to be safe. :/

The lethargy and inability to hold up her head would concern me enough to just call the nurse line and check in before going to bed for the night. The discomfort and fussiness sounds normal but the high fever and lethargy sound a little more intense than what I've ever seen from vaccines.

Sorry my memory is fuzzy, is this the one given at 4 months? If so, my LO had a similar reaction-tons of crying (unusual for him), inconsolable, wouldn't nurse on the side of the shot, etc. This all went away in one night, and I hope your baby feels better very soon!

My LO got her PCV vaccination today and it has only been about 10 hours and we've noticed quite the set of side effects.

I have another close friend who said she believes her kids also react strongly to the vaccine, but instead of bothering her, I thought I would ask you guys. :)

About 8 hours after her vaccination, she had a huge diarrhea poop. We were just being seen for constipation, so diarrhea is VERY VERY VERY unusual for her (she never has loose stools). Is 8 hours too early to be a reaction from a vaccine?

She's been crying on and off all day. She can't get comfortable. On our walk (which she usually loves), she screamed.

I just put her down for bed and she feels like she is absolutely burning up, despite being given Tylenol. Her head, hands, and feet feel incredibly hot.

She's refusing to sit up (or even really hold her head up straight) or put any weight on her legs.

Neither of my kids have ever reacted strongly to a vaccine, so this is new to me.

Does this seem like a normal reaction? Did any of your children react in this way to the PCV/Prevnar vaccine?
