I've been eating peanut butter like crazy. I'm also in love with Reeses eggs. My husband has a nut allergy but it didn't show up until later in life. I'll just hope our daughter doesn't get one. Who really knows what causes allergies?

It had been recommended for several years for women to avoid peanuts whilst pregnant. The peanut allergy levels didn't fall ( I think they may have increased) so the recommendation is now to not avoid, I think.

I ate plenty of PB whilst pregnant, LO is good for nuts.

I eat peanut butter on a near daily basis in my pregnancy! No known allergies in our family and I didn't even think about it before now.

I heard similar stories about eating peanuts/peanut butter during pregnancy as well. I stayed away from it during my first pregnancy but had some with my second. She's too young for nuts so I don't know if she has any allergies yet. But we don't have any family history of nut allergies so I think we should be good.

@mrs. wagon: I eat peanut butter in sandwiches every once in a while and the other day I had a handful of peanut M&Ms. The whole food allergy thing is just bizarre to me so I am just not even worrying about it.

I ate a LOT of PB&Js during my first trimester and have gobbled up handfuls of peanuts throughout my pregnancy (especially now with baseball season starting!). There's no history of food allergies in either of our families.

A good friend of mine ate peanut butter toast every day of her pregnancy before she got out of bed! It was the only thing that stopped her from getting sick. Her son is 11 now and has no nut allergies.

I ate peanuts throughout my pregnancy, but it's way too early to tell if Little Jumper is allergic.

This is the first time I've heard eating peanuts during pregnancy being associated with an allergy in the child! I'm interested in finding out if there is any truth to this, or if your cousins case was sheer coincidence.

Peanut butter is about the only thing I ate religiously throughout pregnancy. But I did research beforehand that there's no conclusive proof. And there's no peanut allergy on either side even though they are allergic to a ton of things!

I am curious about this -- I have been mostly avoiding, I did have on pb&j in the 12 weeks I have been pg.

I have a very good friend with no history of allergies on either side and her 2 year old is very allergic to peanuts, she ate peanut butter almost every day while preggo.

She is having baby #2 soon an has had none this time around (mainly because she can't with her daughters allergy) and she is hoping her second isn't allergic. We'll have to see what happens!

oh wow! Can't even be in a Chinese restuarant because she's that allergic?? Poor girl!!

I LOVE peanuts and all things peanut butter so it'll be one thing I'll be missing lots of when I become preggo. Heck, I might have a peanut aversion and that'll take care of it. Ha. Hope not though.

I know the cause of all these crazy allergies is still unknown, but did you avoid peanuts while pregnant? Wagon Sr.'s cousin (who is a pediatrician) ate peanuts by the sackful with her first, and her daughter is severely allergic to peanuts (can't even be in a chinese restaurant because of the peanut oil they use in the food). She avoided peanuts altogether with the second and her son isn't allergic. Of course it could totally be a coincidence, but as I'm sitting here munching on peanuts (and thinking about a peanut butter sandwich, too) I'm wondering if I should be being more careful...
