@Foodnerd81: I don't think a week late is going to make a difference. We were late for an appointment by a month once :)

@turtledoves: this sounds like my PCP office. When I was pregnant and DH/I were deciding on a doctor for DD I refused to consider a single practitioner office for this exact reason. Three years later, DH is finally understanding that if you are sick you need a doctor to be available now instead of the earliest appointment being two weeks away.

@TurtleDoves: This office is so close to me that they'd have to be pretty terrible for me to leave at this point-- being able to walk there makes it so much easier.

@Foodnerd81: Ours is not the same situation, but I share your frustration with the hours and days and phone calls. My office is...get this...only open open from 10-4pm, with a 1 hour lunch break from 12-1. WTH? Oh, and doctor isn't in on Fridays. Only nurses....
:) Let's just say, I like the guy, but we gots ta go....buh-bye!

@Mrs. Jacks: I mean, my schedule IS flexible, and I usually do book appointments at my previous visit, but sometimes things change and then it's so difficult. Like, I don't want to do her shots the day that DH leaves for his first weekend away, leaving me alone with the baby for the first time. Then she is away the next week and I didn't really want to wait an extra two weeks. It sucks because I do really like her!

This isn't asking for medical advice, but in general, it's fine to wait on the 2 month appointment/shots by a week, right?

ETA: And I truly have no issues with the care-- just the scheduling. I don't even mind (that much) that they are always running late for appointments, because they really take their time with us and answer all my questions-- which I assume is the reason they end up running late before me.

I've worked at resident clinics a lot and I always find it so tough for families. There were a few patients who had a parent who had a flexible schedule where it worked really well... Otherwise, there is often a lot of frustration. Sorry that's the case for you. I always just had our families book at the time of their visit so they could get in with the resident of their choice.

The upside is that you are helping train the next generation of doctors and that you are probably getting excellent well-supervised care.

I really like the pediatricians in the practice we go to, but I'm having a hard time with the office in general. There are a few different doctors but you usually have one primary one you see for routine visits-- sounds good, right? The first one we saw was a resident, who I liked very much, But she's only there on Thursdays. Every time I have to schedule or reschedule it's like pulling teeth-- leaving multiple voicemails during office hours before finally getting someone on the phone, then even with a person on the phone I have to repeat myself a million times (and it's not a language thing). Plus since she is only there once a week, rescheduling is extra difficult. I'm switching our main doc to someone who is there 5 days a week.

The practice is right up the street from us, and I like the doctors, but it's so annoying! Anyone else deal with that? Mostly I'm just venting.
