It is an in-network doc, correct? That seems like it wasn't adjusted at ALL. Have you had that experience with other docs or just this pediatrician? Small practice or under a large hospital group? We have a hdhp and our premiums are about 75% less for family coverage than if we had gone with a traditional PPO or managed care insurance (copays and such). I find this ridiculous because they have the information but have created unnecessary stress on people in the form of not knowing. Sick visits we usually end up paying $85 but that is after insurance has negotiated down the price. Dr usually charges $160-$225 depending on who we've seen and weekends and then insurance doesn't pay any of it and we get billed the $85ish amount.</p> <p>Eta. We are about the hit our deductible from having a baby and will have to pay a $25 copay then. </p>
