@Anagram: thank you so much!! My SIL swears by this brand too! I think I may just get the 18-24 mo in originals! That's what I was leaning towards! My LO was 24 lbs at 1 year too!

@MrsBrewer: Pedipeds originals are hands down my favorite beginner walker shoes, and I bought them all (Robeez, SeeKaiRun smallers, Livie and Lucas, Stride Rite, etc). I think you'll be fine with the 18-24. My big 1 year old (big feet and 24 lbs) has been walking since 10.5 months and is still just barely fitting in the 12-18, so I'm going to get her some 18-24 months next. She also has Stride Rites (the softmotion type) and See Kai Runs, but the harder sole Stride Rites are harder for her to walk in, and the See Kai runs get a wet sole if there's any moisture in the ground. The Pedipeds Originals are soft and flexible but with a rubber sole, so they are the perfect middle ground for us so far.

If you can get her fitted i would recommend that. It's so hard to tell with little feet. I also had a big guy who needed a softer shoe in sizes they dont really come in. The shoe store we went to was amazing in finding a good fit for an early walker.

@ShootingStar: Good to know! I'm so confused with all these shoe sizing/differences. Maybe I will drop in to a StrideRite store and have her fitted!

@MrsBrewer: In those pics she looks pretty far away from maxing out that size. But yes, you need to have her stand on the paper with her weight on the foot. You might want to consider stride rite instead. They can do sizing in store and I think their soft sole shoes go up a tiny bit bigger.

@ShootingStar: I was kind of holding DD, and placed her foot on the changing table where I had the piece of paper on a hard book. should she actually be standing on it?

I'm nervous that the soft soles are going to be too small for her! hahaha they said that 18-24 mo goes to 5.25" DD isn't too far away from that.

The Originals are designed for kids learning to walk; the Grip and Gos are for kids who are walking but not yet "confident" walkers. I'd go with the Originals, for sure. They were D's first shoes and they were awesome. I just bought A a pair.

ETA: And in cold or rainy weather, we carried D at that stage because he moved too slowly and/or would still topple over and end up with wet/snow-covered hands and knees.

If she doesn't walk yet, get her the soft soles. They will be much easier for her to learn in. I also realized with DS when he was beginning to walk that we just carried him still, especially in inclement weather.

As for the sizing, is she standing on the paper, or did you just hold her foot up to the paper?

@Mrs. Pickles: She has the cutest, chunkiest feet/toes! We live in WI, so definitely get cold weather. I guess I'm just wondering are the hard soles harder for beginning walkers to walk with?

#1, love her toes :)
the pedipeds I've bought are true to size but I would go with the harder sole ( I don't know how your seasons run) but I'm already thinking of changing weather and harder soles are better for weather patterns

My SIL is graciously getting my DD her first pair of "practical shoes"! She had cute ones, but none for actually helping her walk haha.

She wants to get her a pair of Pedipeds, but I'm not sure if we should go with the Originals, or Grip N Go.

My DD is 14 months, not walking yet, but big!

I have attached pictures of her feet on the sizing guide (her heel is at the proper spot for each)

I'm afraid she will grow out of the original (soft sole bottom) super quick! But I've heard that soft soled bottoms are best for beginning walkers.

Advice??
