I can't believe she is already 20 months old! Sounds like you might be looking into potty training soon!

Sounds like she's ready! Go for it! Potty trained toddlers are the best. No more stinky diapers!

My LO is also 20 months and does the same thing. She only gives me about a 5 second warning, so I don't think I could get to the potty in time even if I tried. I think the fact that they are aware they are about to poo/pee is definitely a step in the right direction!

I think this is one of the signs of readiness, but it doesn't necessarily indicate complete readiness (I think Mrs. Jacks did a nice blog post about this recently?). My DS is telling us when he poops (turns 2 tomorrow) but when I put him on the toilet he doesn't produce anything yet. But it's definitely a good sign! Girls tend to get trained faster. Get ready!! :-)

Perhaps, it is worth a try. DD (3 1/2yo) didn't do this when she was in diapers but now that she is potty trained (started at 2 1/2yo) she likes to announce when she has to go (usually while holding herself and in public).

My LO likes to announce when she pees and poops in her diapers...does this mean she is ready for the next step? Why am I dreading potty training so much?

:-) she is 20 months old.
