@cat620: @MACSUNSHINE: @agold: @dc yoga bee: @mrswilson2012: @lioneyes: bumping this thread--would any of you share your favorite instructors/rides, or any tips you have for how to best take advantage of it? Do you do the challenges or anything? We just got one, I love it already. I've only used it twice so I'm still getting a feel for the instructors and classes, love to hear how/how often you use yours.

Also, do you have the Peloton shoes, or have something else that you think is better? I got them but don't love them the way I loved my old Shimanos (with incompatible clips).

And if anyone wants to be Peloton friends!! LMK :) :)

TIA.

@lioneyes: typically it’s a free accessory bundle. And tbh, I don’t really use any of their accessories except the shoes. I bought a schosche heart rate monitor, used an old yoga mat, etc. I don’t use the headphones.

Bumping this- getting one for my bday in 2 weeks and so excited. Should be cleared for post partum exercise by the time it arrives.

Anyone order around Black Friday? I have a friends Referral code but might wait and see if they offer anything better, but on reddit people said waiting for Black Friday adds a ton of delivery time.

Love, love, love my Peloton! I work out SO much more now that I can do it from home. We put ours in a spare room that wasn't used for anything. We put a piece of plywood down, then the Peloton mat and the bike on top. We also set up a shelf with Clorox wipes, towels, head phones, our spin shoes, etc. It is a beautiful bike and not an eye sore at all. I usually ride after DD goes down for bed. My favorite instructors are Robin, Ally and Alex but you should try them all to see who you like the best.

@agold: ha yeah I’m not the most graceful but I am lazy so many many times I’ve left my wallet or phone on my desk but don’t want to unclip. I practically lean parallel to the ground 5th element style and reach 7 feet over and the bike doesn’t topple!!
I’ll try to snap a pic tomorrow if the office/gym/nursery/storage closet is presentable. Ha

@Littlebit7: I laughed about the thought of pushing yourself over on this bike. :silly:

@MACSUNSHINE: Also just laughed about giving the house over to the kids. I feel the same way. Kids stuff every where. I moved last week and we have empty rooms in the house. Very front room just has those foam play mats with a princess tent on top. That's what you see when you enter my house. Ugh. I may as well put a peloton bike right by the front door, as well.

I have a Peloton! It was in my master bedroom on the black mat they make on the carpet before we moved. Now, it’s in the basement, which is also carpeted. It’s great on the joints, reminds me of soul cycle as the instructors and community are so amazing. Seriously, the community alone is worth it. I haven’t been able to ride during this pregnancy as I have hyperemesis but I can’t wait to get back on it.

@cat620: before the bike arrived I had three places in mind. One being in the great room that has a very generous hallway. I put my husband’s workout mat there to see how I felt having something obstruct the path. I didn’t like it and didn’t want LO to run into as he ran around the house. The other option was to put it into the garage that serves as DH’s Home gym, but he warned me it gets really cold in the winter and really hot in the summer. In the end I chose the hallway because it’s a spot that LO wouldn’t run into and was easily accessible and comfortable to work out. Your bonus room sounds like a great place for it with some layout modifications.

It is actually very pretty, I vote wherever it is easiest for you to use. We have given our house over to the kids though so I have no shame or concern about people seeing the bike, they may also see toys and pillows everywhere 😉.

Ours is in the living room near the doorway to the playroom so I can easily hop on and still keep an eye on the kids. I attempted my first ride this morning and the little bit I did was awesome, until the baby woke up! We have only hardwoods so can’t help on carpet question.

@cat620: the bike weighs over 100 lbs. you’d have to practically push yourself over to fall off the bike! I vote by the stairs. You could always anchor the base with a few super heavy dumbbells if you were really concerned.

Does anyone have their bike sitting on carpet. I was reading a blog where someone suggested laying down a sheet of plywood under the bike for stability if it’s going to be on carpet. Anyone done this?

I’m trying to decide between three locations for my bike.
1) Our formal dining room that’s currently used as a playroom. The downside is it’s right by our front door, so everyone would see the bike first thing when coming in our house. I know it’s a nice looking bike, but I’m not sure I want it to be the first thing people see.
2) The bonus room above the garage. The downside is the ceiling on one side is sloped, so I can’t put it by that wall, because I would hit my head. If I put it on the other side, that’s a half wall that has the staircase below it (so it’s open to the staircase). I have space for the bike there, but I’m worried if I were to fall off the bike I could potentially fall over the half wall and down the stairs! I could move the bike a couple feet from the half wall, but then it would be in the middle of the bonus room blocking the TV view from the couch. The bonus room is currently used as a TV room / additional playroom
3) I could put it in the corner of the master bedroom, but it seems unromantic and I’m not sure I want to combine my sleeping and workout space.

My husband had one for about a year and he really liked it. He didn’t do any kind of a workout before that besides lifting weights at the gym (rarely).
He liked Alex Toussaint. He got into the habit of using it daily and he lost 15+ lbs.
We only got rid of it because we live in an apartment and it was in our spare room which became the new baby’s room.
But it still got him into the habit so now he goes to the gym in our building at least 3 times a week.

@cat620: it’s reallt amazing. We love ours. To answer your questions, yes I rode it through two pregnancies. It’s reallt the best form of exercise I’ve found for my lifestyle (don’t love the gym,
I’ve never been good about online workouts etc. I sorta enjoy running but hard with kids. ) it was great while pregnant. It’s pretty adjustable so the belly is more or less out of the way
As far as insteuctors, it’s helpful to try them all to get a feel for what they are like. You can choose by music too or time. Or whether or not you want arms included. They also have a ton of “beyond the ride” stretching, yoga, weights, arms legs etc.
my husband surprisingly loves it. TBH sometimes we both just throw on a scenic ride and watch netflix or he plays video games.
If you want, you can use my referral code. It gets you $100 off accessories (shoes, clips, mat for bike, etc). They really don’t run deals so it’s as good as you get. Full disclosure I get $100 off accessories too :)

UE5YW9
