Mine started around 12 weeks, and while the pain has died down a little now (my leg/joint doesn't give out as much anymore), its still painful. I've found that sitting on an exercise ball seems to help, and my Snoogle pillow helped for awhile (but doesn't now). Honestly, both my midwife and chiropractor have told me that its not really going to go away until baby comes. SO sorry!

I had terrible tail bone/hip pain and went and bought a 4 inch foam mattress topper along with a body pillow. This made a world of difference for me because my hips hurt so bad before, all I did was toss and turn all night long because of pain. I would suggest getting those things and continuing to exercise. My pain subsided around 30 weeks.

This is weird, but I find I actually have less pain when I wear (very sturdy!) heels than when I wear flat shoes- I guess I walk and adjust and distribute my weight differently. Still sucks though- I'm 22 weeks and it's really been the last week or two when by the afternoon I can barely walk at all.

Thanks y'all!

The exercise ball has been at the top of my list to get. I work a desk job and am sitting on my butt for most of the 8-9 hour day... My DH about had a field day when he saw that Wiki recommended a "walking stick or elbow crutches," so @mrsjazz: , I give you props, lady! ;)

It's tough, too, because I feel like people don't really..."get" the pain level associated with it and think I'm just "the obnoxious pregnant person complaining about their back." Ugh. Fail.

Ah, you poor thing! I had quite a bit of horrible tailbone pain, sciatica, and just general I can't move without hurting issues from very early on (like you, week 12ish or so) up until the late second/early third trimester (around 26-28weeks, maybe?). I will say that the sciatica went away completely, the hip pain did not but is very bearable, and my tailbone stopped hurting before 20 weeks. Definitely make friends with a heating pad, be careful when you get out of bed (keep legs closed), and just be aware of how you are sitting/standing/sleeping and try to avoid positions that cause you pain.

I hope it stops hurting for you soon!!

Sitting on my exercise ball has helped tor relieve my hip pain. I also get adjusted once a month or so at the chiropractor. My hips get out of alignment very easily due to a car accident last year.

Yup! I had major major pain. The pillow worked, sitting on my exercise ball, my heating pad, and my support belt helped. Mine got so bad that I had to stop my prenatal yoga class and ended up walking with a cane towards the end of my pregnancy (I was kind of mortified, a bloated whale using a cane to waddle down the street). Remember to keep your legs together when rolling out of bed, that helped.

But unfortunately giving birth was the thing that finally made it feel better.

I hear you, sister!! My PGP started around 6 weeks as a burning sensation in both of my hips. I got my diagnosis at 16 weeks, by which point I was in so much pain. For me, it was mostly my left hip, which would "give out" when I was walking etc. By 30 weeks, I could hardly walk from the lounge to the kitchen. I had a kind of waddle-limp and the pain was excruciating. I think I had trapped my sciatic nerve because my whole left leg was weak and twanged with pain whenever I tried to move. Awful.

Then.... at 31 weeks.... it went away. Completely. How weird is that?!!

Anyway, things that helped. I found that a nice warm bath eased the pain (but it came back as soon as I got out). I also found that a hot water bottle, held to the area, eased the pain a little. I bought a maternity belt but it didn't work for me - I'm carrying very low down so it just crushed my bump! It might work for you though so it's worth a try. I found it helpful to never twist my pelvis and never stand on one leg - so when getting out of a car, for example, swing your legs out with both knees together then stand up with both legs. If you put a carrier bag beneath your bottom in the car, it's easier to swivel! Use the same technique to get in and out of bed - and when you put your trousers on, sit down, put both legs in, then stand up and pull them up!

I hope you find some relief because it is really, really awful. I was miserable.

My nurse told me that sleeping with a pillow between my kegs makes it worse. The nights I do, I really hurt in the morning. The nights with no pillow, doesn't seem to be as bad in the morning.

Oh yeah, I had major round ligament pain at 20 weeks. Sleeping with a body pillow every night solved my issues pretty quickly though. I didn't really do anything else.

I saw a chiropractor periodically through the rest of my pregnancy when mine started (was from injury). It made a HUGE difference and even helped me go from sporadic "false" labor to consistent early labor when I was 41+3 (I really think I should've been more consistent with it).

Alright, I need ideas. I started experiencing some minor pelvic girdle pain at the end of April/early May (11-14ish weeks along). It came and went, but wasn't too awful. I'll be 20 weeks on Friday and am starting to panic... I'm in paaaain.

I'm almost 100% positive that it's pelvic girdle pain, specifically the back right of my pelvis (anterior sacroiliac joint). It hurts to walk (it'll "give out" from time to time), stand, sit, lay... The Google basically just says that "giving birth" is the only cure-all, and in the meantime, just find ways to deal. I caved and bought a Snoogle, which is freakin' awesome, but for the other 16 hours a day that it's not socially acceptable to lay with a massively-oversized pillow, I'm struggling.

Anyone dealt with this during their pregnancy? Any suggestions of how to manage it (stretches, massage techniques, heat/cold/, belts, etc.)?!
