@HappyJax: Yes I had this around 18 weeks as well. and my doctor said it was my hips spreading to accomodate the baby. I had so much pain in my tail bone it felt like i had fallen down on my butt really hard.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: In regards to the adjustments for pubic bone my chiro uses the little tapper hammer (totally the technical term for it!) usually on the left side and middle of my pubic bone (doesn't get near to my actual vagina at all). The first two times she did it she had me ice it in the evening for an hour with 10 minutes on, 10 minutes off. I can't believe how good I feel. Glad to hear after just one adjustment you can feel the difference! Good luck with the vag bone pain, I hope it dissipates quickly.

@HappyJax: Ah I am so glad you posted this!! I'm also around 18W and have recently started experiencing exactly what you describe. I call it vagina bone pain, but the chiropractor called it pubic bone pain (ha!). He said that I need to be very careful to monitor it because if it gets bad, it could be painful to walk. I've also had lower back pain (around tailbone) that hurt when I laid on my back and shifted to either side. I went to the chiropractor and after ONE adjustment, I felt better. I couldn't believe it.

I'm sort of embarassed to ask about the v bone pain again because I don't know where he's going to have to "adjust" down there, but I'll trust @lolabee and just tell them what's going on so it can get fixed!

Hope it starts feeling better!

@HappyJax: I felt like this as well, kind of like my pelvis/hips/pubic bone etc were just going to fall apart. I was talking with my Doula about it and she recommended me to a chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy, she has made an absolute world of difference in how I feel. I rarely feel the vag bone splitting apart pain and no longer feel as though I could just fall apart with the wrong move.

I hadn't been to a chiropractor previously and was a little bit hesitant but all I know is I feel like a new woman! Long story short and not sure if it's your thing or not but thought I would let you know what helped me. Hope you're feeling better and congratulations!

Oh, I also sleep with a Snoogle and I think it helps too?

I had the worst pelvic pain too starting in my second trimester. I couldn't lift my left leg without feeling a sharp pain there. My OB thought it could be my ligaments loosening. It went awa a few weeks after I gave birth. Not fun at all! I also had the worst butt pain as well that only a heating pad on my butt would help. That went away almost immediately after birth. Hope you can find a way to cope with your pain. I just dealt with it and whined to my husband. :P

@HappyJax: I have had the same kind of pressure from pretty early on. I have a short torso, and my placenta is up top so she pretty much chills out at the bottom and feels like she's sitting on my pelvic bone a lot of the time. My pressure is more in the front, so on my bladder and pelvic area not bowels, but I totally get what you're talking about. It's pretty bad when I'm standing, walking, or turning over in bed, and I hate to say it but its gotten worse every week of my pregnancy! Tying to work has been tough, and I don't even enjoy shopping anymore!

I second the recommendation to get a support band if it really bothers you. I never got one because I'm a cheapskate, but I do know that if I lift and hold my belly when it gets painful, the pressure and pain is relieved.

I had some weird pelvic pressure around 22 weeks and a maternity support band while on my feet helped (mine is from Motherhood Maternity--if you go there you can try them on first)! Also, relaxing helped--I kept worrying that something was wrong and I think that made the problem even worse. I hope you feel better and it's just temporary!

@HappyJax: just during the day. Other times it hurt was going from sitting to standing, and when putting pressure on one leg.

Thanks for the replies. It feels better when I'm lying down but I do feel it when I turn over. Standing and sitting its at its worst. I'm going to try sleeping with a pillow between my legs. @travelgirl1 did you wear the pelvic support band all day or just at night?

I also had bad vagina bone pain. But it didn't cause pressure in my bowel area...

I would definitely go back in for follow up urinalysis. At 32 weeks I had a really bad UTI that actually caused me to have bleeding and contractions. I had to do two rounds of antibiotics because the first kind didn't work.

Does it hurt when you're laid down in bed and try to turn over? I had the same as @prettylizy: describes, but turning over in bed was the worst. I wore a pelvic support band to ease the pain but it didn't go away until a few weeks after delivery.

I had what I delicately referred to as 'vagina bone' pain. I seriously felt like my vagina bone was breaking in half. Started early and continued until she was born. For me is was worst when I was standing for long periods of time or laying down. I ached like crazy when I woke up in the mornings.

I am 18 weeks and have been having extreme pelvic pressure for the past week. It's especially worse when I am standing and it hurts really bad if I'm on my feet for a long time. I feel the pressure on my cervix, bowel area and today in my front pelvic bone - basically my whole lower body.

I went to the doctor twice as they thought I may have a weak cervix or be dilating. Thankfully everything looks great for the baby and my cervix/uterus. My urine sample came back slightly abnormal so they thought it was due to a UTI but I am not feeling any relief and I am finished with my medication.

I am so happy and thankful that the baby is healthy but I am still concerned about what is going on. It seems too early in the pregnancy to be feeling this much pressure from the baby or my uterus. The doctors don't seem concerned after examining me but I am extremely uncomfortable. I am going back in on Monday if I do not feel better.

Did anyone else experience this? Am I just going to feel this way the whole pregnancy? I can only imagine how it will be when the baby is larger...
