@BabyBoecksMom: I would either 1. Make dh tell them they aren't allowed over until the party starts. His family, his problem. Or if you don't think that will work 2. Tell them the party starts later, you had to change the time. So coming early would mean coming ..... right when the party actually starts.

oh that sucks, i'm sorry. can DH talk to your ILs? is there an errand that you could send them on right before the party, or when they show up - act like you're freaking out because you forgot something? or does DD nap well in the car - could you or DH take her out for a drive and just show up right at 2?

You are much better than me! I'd probably spaz on each person and make it clear...they are guests and the time they are invited to the house is clearly stated on the invite.

Can you go pick up the balls from your parents today? That's probably what i would do, and tell them to come at 2pm.

Ohmygosh, i would be sooo annoyed. Can't your DH put his foot down?? Yeah, if they aren't going to listen, i would just say that you and LO are running errands before the party.

@BabyBoecksMom: Ugh, I hate that. The ILs are getting better as LO's getting older, but they used to complain that he was sleepy and make noise to keep him awake. He's not a good napper, so now they just say that he's cranky... well yeah, because I can't put him to sleep with all of these people here!

For the IL's, do you have a video monitor so they catch "watch" her sleep? I have no advice other than what PP have said.

@artbee: @Rescuemom10: @TurtleDoves: The problem is, my in-laws don't care if she's napping. They never have. They always expect me to wake up DD whenever they come over. One time, my MIL went so far as to purposely make noise to try to wake her up (and I know she did it on purpose because she said "Oh darn, this might wake up the baby, but oh well").. yeah.....

I'm with @artbee: , I would just say "Thanks for the offer, but I really want her to be fresh for the party and having people in and out might wake her. Or just say "Thanks for offering, but I have everything under control and won't be ready for guests until X o'clock."

@BabyBoecksMom: I say stick to your sched. Use what @artbee: said and tell them LO will be napping. That way you wont be stressed out more and can do what you need to do!

Oh, I just re read it and saw that she'll be napping before the party. I'd tell them (or tell DH to tell his parents) not to come. She'll be napping anyway, I'm sure they'll understand.

SOOOO ANNOYING! Can't you at least tell your sister & in-laws not to? The in-laws should know that LO will be asleep. And your sister should realize she can't really help if she has kids tagging along.
Your parents though..there may not be a way to get out of that without being blunt, which could be mean.
Hopefully it doesn't get stressful!

Is your LO napping before the party and having people there will wake her up? If so, I would flat out say no, she'll be napping and I want her to be well rested.

If she'll be napping after the party and them being there early won't interfere with nap time, I would let them come and babysit so you can get things done. Stick to your planned schedule, if you aren't party dressed for your inlaws I'm sure they won't care.

I'm frustrated. I planned this party around DD's nap time, and to make sure that we have enough time to get the yard work done, make and set up the food and get ready before all the guest get there. DD should be waking up from her nap right at the start of the party.

My MIL called DH and told him she and FIL are going to come over early tomorrow before the party. (Not to help out, but so that she can see DD) Then my mom called and said that she and my dad are going to come over early to drop off the balls for the ball pit and to help with anything I need. The problem is, it'll take me longer to tell them what I need them to do than it will for me to just do it myself.

And then, my SIL wants to come over early to "help out" as well. And her kids are CRAZY!!

There's a reason I put 2pm on the party invite!! (not 1 or 1:30) Ugh! Don't people realize that I put that time so that *I* have enough time to get ready? If they come over early, that means I have to get myself ready even earlier.... and there's no time for that!

ok... vent over
