L has had a few yeast rashes and it sounds similar. Lots of air time helped, warm wash cloth instead of wipes, and alternating paste and dry diapers helped.

He recently just had a really bad rash and I am pretty sure it was due to teething. Poor dude. Gone now, thankfully.

Try Lotrimin! It always worked WAY better than Nystatin for us.

We just had a yeast rash that merged with a heat rash and 1% hydrocortisone took care of it in a day. Nystatin worked at first and then did nothing.

Just wanted to second the Lotrimin recommendation! My daughter gets some crazy yeast-based diaper rashes. They look sort of splotchy and pimply. The first time she got one it was from being on antibiotics, but she's gotten them when she's not on antibiotics also. Lotrimin (or the generic kind - I think the actual medicine is called clotrimazole) clears it right up.

Not sure what Nystatin is but DS had a nasty rash once and our Ped told us to use Lotrimin and it cleared right up!

Bummer the Nystatin isn't working - that's our magic cure too!

Depending on the cause of the rash, the Neosporin could be aggravating it since it will also lock in moisture. If your issue is caused by wetness, the Neosporin might make it worse.

When we have bad persistent diaper rashes, I always try to make sure the area is DRY before I apply anything and put his diaper back on. So after wiping him down, I'll pat him dry with a paper towel or even let him air dry. Then I apply Nystatin and Desitin and put the diaper back on. That USUALLY works.

Good luck!

My dd had a rash like this and it was thrush. She didn't have any other symptoms of thrush, so I was pretty surprised that's what it was. It cleared up with an anti fungal cream and she took something orally as well. Our pedi prescribed both. Good luck!

This might not be applicable at all, but is it possible that a change in either diapers or wipes is causing it? I have noticed my DD always gets a rash if we happen to change wipes (but nothing as severe as what you are describing).

My LO sometimes gets a rash at daycare for whatever reason, and I started getting them to always put Triple Paste on her at every diaper change. She has never had a rash that slabbing tons of Triple Paste on did not cure. On rare occasions, I add in Nystatin and it's like a vanishing cream:)

Recently she got a rash that is lots of little pimple-like bumps (no puss or anything, no oozing) and it just won't go away. After about a week, I brought her to the ped to rule out staph or something more serious. They said it's not staph, and they told me to put Neosporin, Nystatin, A&D, and Triple Paste on it and that would be the magic potion to clear it up.

No improvement.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to have to go back to the ped already (we went Wed)...I wish we could just clear up the stupid rash on our own. I'm going to call the nurse's line today, but jeez. Heal already, sensitive hiney!
