I think ours was about $2,500-$3,000, it was a big Korean party. Most of the cost went to the food b/c there were so many people and it was a sit down lunch. Oh, and I splurged on a professional photographer b/c I wanted to get some nice family pictures - that was totally worth it!

I can't say for sure, but i'm guessing we will spend $100-200, we have a large family and will probably invite everyone. but it will be very DIY

I'm guessing maybe $100-200 for the first birthday party? But it'll just be family and close friends - so I'll probably bake and my fam will probably cook. We might have a 100 day banquet too, but it would probably be a similar in scale.

We spent about $600 for 22 kids and 27 adults. We rented a play gym ($300) and DIY'd everything else except for the main courses (Pizza & Chicken fingers).

This first one was mostly my and my husband's friends and family but I expect her subsequent ones to be just a few of her toddler friends and therefore smaller and much more affordable.

I DIYed everything at the party, made my own food, cake, desserts, etc... So I would say about 350$ for about 35 guests.

We had a big formal to-do at a local sit-down chinese restaurant. We rented part of their dining room. I think our total budget was $1k. We really wanted to throw a big celebration and do all the traditional Korean things, and the grandparents loved it. I think we had about 50 people and the food was awesome. We also got a huge 2-tiered cake, fondant-covered cake from our favorite bakery. We knew we wanted to do a big party for his dol (1 year) so we started saving and preparing when he was 6 months old.

I think we did it smartly... spent most of the money on food and the cake. We borrowed the han bok, all the decorations were DIY or from a really great vendor on etsy, we did balloon centerpieces and I DIYed the favors.

I would only spend money on a birthday that my kid would actually remember suc has a 3rd birthday. I think 1st and 2nd birthdays would just be very small and simple

Including presents, food and party supplies (favors, plates, balloons, decor, invites, etc.) I'd say we spent about $200, on a 15-20 person party. Oh, and I made LO's cake, so the cost of ingredients for that was probably less than buying one.

We had it at home and I probably spent around $1k but that was all by choice. I got a really fancy cake and expensive food. There were mostly adults there and everyone loved it.

Yikes! We spent around that on our wedding! We don't have any first birthday traditions so we'll probably have my parents over and have cake and ice cream. Easy peasy.

I refused to buy into the expensive NYC first birthday thing. At my friends and husbands horror we had a small cake and clown party at our home for about 30 people. You would have thought I shot someone's dog.

We don't have a budget set, but I'm expecting it to cost somewhere between $500-$1,000. We are going to have a pretty big party and around 100 guests (mostly family).

I figure it won't hurt too bad since we'll buy stuff here and there over the next couple of months to start preparing.

Well, I was a single mom, living at my parents, so I spent maybe $20?! That was for the cake and some balloons! I just had a couple friends over and my parents' neighbors. It was little and simple.

first birthday parties are huge in korean culture because it was a big milestone back in the day when babies often died before reaching their first birthday. so first birthdays are often as big as weddings with over 100 guests! ours was pretty low key and a chance for a lot of people to meet charlie. we also didn't have a 100 day party (another big thing in korean culture), and didn't plan on having any more birthday parties... perhaps ever? so it was a one time thing. :)

How much did you spend on your LO's 1st birthday party?
I'm originally from CA and I know people who've spent 15k+ on their LO's first birthday. #crazy :)
I'm planning a semi-small party (no more than 25 guests). I set a tentative budget but was wondering how much other people spent/were planning on spending.
