Definitely worth trying! You can always tell the trainer that your goal is to work on form/learn about workout planning so you can continue on your own.

I've been using a trainer for a few years now. I started off doing three weight training sessions a week. Now I just do two.

It's worth it for me to continue doing the training because it makes me much more likely to go each week. Plus, I never have to think about what to do or whether I'm making progress. I'm pregnant right now and my trainer has been modifying my workouts without me having to worry about it.

I go to a bare-bones cheap gym with great trainers, so overall I end up paying about the same as I would just to join the more expensive gym in the neighborhood. My gym doesn't have classes or a pool or anything, but I don't have time to go more than twice a week anyway.

I think everyone can benefit from a good coach/trainer, even if you are fit. They help with form, give you new ideas for workouts/lifts/mobility, keep you challenged & improving, and keep you accountable when you hit those busy times of life (or are in a busy season of life!!).

ETA: you don't have to do every workout with them. it'd be great if you could find someone who can work with you when you want -- even if it's more frequent initially and then only 1x/week or 1-2x/month or whatever!

I'm not currently active/fit but I did have a personal trainer once upon a time. It totally depends on the trainer.

The first one I had was awesome! I'm terrible at body alignment and he was super helpful in getting me positioned properly. He was also very good at coming up with creative routines so I could try new things either at home or in the gym without him

The other trainer I had was completely useless. She mostly threw me on a machine and talked my ear off. Ugh!

If you find one like my first guy then go for it.

If you are already fit/active, did you find it beneficial to have a personal trainer or continue using one once you became more comfortable?

I don't have any weight loss goals, but i really care about proper form and figuring out a routine that works for me. I found a private gym that is offering introductory sessions with a trainer, but i don't know if i really want to put in the money for more sessions after that.

Thoughts?
