He thought it might not be a bad idea to have my sister and mom, who work in the medical industry, to make sure they are up to date on theirs, just in case. My mom works in pediatric nursing so she is up to date, so MIL is the only one I have to work on. Also we live in Cali where there have been recent outbreaks. At first my mom acted like I was a little crazy, and she told me she would be fine b/c she has a great immune system. I said that's wonderful, but the baby probably does not have a great immune system. Our pediatrician didn't let my husband out of the office until he had gotten it when we took our newborn in for his first check up. We asked all ours to. Whooping cough has been a problem here. If you have ever seen video of a baby with whooping cough you would probably feel quite comfortable asking people to have the shot. DH has already gotten his, but when he mentioned it to his mother she seemed to think we were being a little crazy for him to get it. I feel like if she is going to be around LO a lot in the newborn phase, I'd feel better if she was up-to-date as well, but not sure if I"m being overprotective. What are your thoughts? </p>
