@spaniellove: Whoah! Your dog got sick?!? Scary! You should report it to the FDA if you know the brand.

@bluestriped bee: I don't think you're being overly cautious at all. I'm starting to get weary of a lot of the products we're getting from China.. from dog food treats to children's toys with dangerous chemicals in them. No thanks! Also, I've heard of people's dogs dying from some of these jerky treats. It's terrible. They literally give no fucks.

I'm glad my dog loves her Nylabone--we basically stick with that these days!

I stopped feeding any kind of jerky years ago. Before the recall became more widely known, our dog ate one piece of a popular brand and got really sick.

A few years ago when this happened I switched to blue buffalo dog food and only bought treats made in Canada or USA - not taking ant risks!!!!

Anyone check their dog jerky treats to see if they are made in China?

I just looked and I have a big bag a duck jerky that I got from Costco and it says on the bag that it's a product of China.

Here is the recall from the FDA.

http://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/SafetyHealth/ProductSafetyInformation/ucm360951.htm

Another link from American Veterinary Medicine.
https://www.avma.org/news/issues/recalls-alerts/pages/safety-alert-on-jerky-treats-for-pets.aspx

Regarding the Cadet brand Duck Jerky that I got from Costco, I found this article where Costco reassures us that their products are safe because they double check every lot.

http://www.komonews.com/news/consumer/Costco-No-pet-illnesses-associated-with-our-jerky-treat-suppliers-229633341.html?mobile=y

I'm not going to chance it. I would feel better tossing or returning the bag.

I've given my dogs the treats over the past couple months and I don't think I've seen signs of sickness. I did give them some duck jerky a few hours ago. They seem fine. I'm sure they will be fine. Just don't feel comfortable giving them those treats anymore.

I know I'm being over cautious.
