@Boogs: I've learned so many tips!!

@abbydabbydoodlebug: At night is when her cough is the worst, sometimes in the morning before the baby-sitters too.

@StbHisMrs: How often did you give your LO Benadryl? Did you do it just at night or every 6 hours?

She threw up all her lunch today all over her herself and highchair. and just projectile vomited all over her rug in her room. :( I'm so. over. vomit.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: When my daughter gets a bad cough that is what happens, it stinks! So I ask the pharmacist after not being able to find anything for her cough and she told me that Benadryl is their best kept secret. She advised half a dosage for, and it worked! Good luck

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Aww I bet you're exhausted, it's hard when they are sick. I had another thought, when there's phlegm I try to avoid as much dairy as possible. Hope a recovery is in your near future!

@Boogs: @littlecasita1122: Thanks y'all! I gave her benadryl earlier today but didn't give it before bed because I forgot. The smaller meals is probably a good idea. I'm going to do that. I can't do the mattress propping thing because she is all over the place during the night. Buti could try for the daytime because she doesn't move as much. I'll try it tomorrow.

I'm just ready for her to be better and not so much laundry. :(

We've gone through this a few times with my LO and have tried Benadryl for night-time. It helps dry up all the phlegm so he sleeps better and stops coughing as much. We won't do Benadryl during the day, so instead we limit him to eating smaller meals, but snacking more if needed. That way if he does throw up, it's not a huge amount. The other thing we try at night is propping up one side of his mattress with a couple blankets underneath. But he tends to move all over the crib still so that doesn't work every time.

We go through the same with our LO and try similar things, but never benedryl just because I haven't heard of it. If it went on that many days I would at least give it a try. In all honesty, time is what works best for us. :/

DD has been congested the past 10 days or so. It started as a runny nose, but now that's stopped and it's in the back of her throat. Took her to see a P.A. yesterday (only P.A.s are available on the weekends at my pedi's office) and she said there's nothing in the chest, but there's a little fluid in the ears, but not an infection yet. The problem I'm having is she'll eat a bottle of formula or breast feed (I'm weaning her) and she cough, gag, and then throw it all up. Last night at dinner, she was eating puree and coughed and threw some up then too. She doesn't throw up every single time, but usually once a day.

I've been doing saline every so often and I've tried nosefrieda, but nothing comes out. The P.A. said to do saline and suction, but I never get anything out because it's too deep in there and it totally traumatizes my DD. I also have a humidifier going in her room, tried having her in a steamy bathroom, but that didn't seem to help.

She also said I could give her benedryl, but when I looked up the dosages, it says not to give for colds because it has no proven benefits. I just really want to get this phlegm out of her, so she stops throwing up all over me!

Has anyone used benedryl in a situation like this? Is there anything else I could do? I'm desperate!
