I plan to use her for our newborn photos so I'll decide later if I tip her more. She could easily charge us for a separate newborn session but said she could charge is for the mat &amp; newborn combo price so that is super nice of her.<br /> Plus, I know it is stated on her website but I was very surprised to see her turn around our photos in less than a week. I feel like tipping has gotten out of hand these days with everyone who does anything for you expecting a tip. I feel you should pay the rate being charged and that's that. So I would say it's not common. While I certainly appreciate it, I don't expect it. I only tipped $100 each, as opposed to a percentage of the package. Had I tipped the percentage it would been a massive tip and I was broke! If they go above and beyond, I do like to tip though. Is it 20% of their fee? That would be a lot! Or is a flat amount normal?</p> <p>Also, sorta related and I've always wondered...<br /> I was once told that if a vendor or service provider (like a photographer) is self employed you don't need to tip them (since they are making all of their fee). Is that true? Not the case for the above scenario, but still have always wondered what to do in that situation if they are self employed. </p>
