We got some wonderful pictures of him before/during the cake eating and also some of us as a family. No one in my family takes good shots. My mom likes to take candids. It's almost comical how she likes to document an event, but none of the photos are worthy of an album or frame later. With that, we've never had a photog &amp; I don't think I could ever justice the expense. womp womp.</p> <p>I think if you incorporated a 1st birthday shoot, maybe get lo ready &amp; have her come 30 minutes before the party starts to get specific shots then it might be worth it. I don't want to do a big party every year, but I think we will do it up for her 1st, which means I need to start putting some money aside now. </p> <p>We have a photographer who we have used for over 3 years now, from our engagement shoot to G's newborn pics. She's a student, but she does really excellent work at very very good prices. I was thinking about hiring her for a couple hours to take pics at LO's bday party. She charges 65$/hr for photo shoots, so I figure it'd run about 120-150$. </p> <p>DH thinks I'm being ridiculous, and that we don't need a photographer (which no, we don't *need* one, I'm not a Kardashian)... but I figure we would have done 1 year pics anyways, so isn't this a good way to incorporate those + the party? Plus I wouldn't have to worry about taking pics myself, I could just enjoy the time!</p> <p>What do y'all think? Would you pay 150$ to have pro photos of your LO's 1st bday? Is it a ridiculous thing to do? </p>
