DS will wear what I pick out 98% of the time. Remaining 2% is his own choosing or he wants to persuade me otherwise. Whether I concede is 50/50. He's 3.

DS will be 3 in November and freely goes into his closet to pick clothes...like 3 times per day. He loves changing his outfit and is obsessed w collegiate gear (too easy to access in one of those hanging sweater organizers). At least it is now fall and football so he is somewhat season appropriate. It's a battle I now have decided to forego...too likely to lead to a tantrum

My 4 year old picks out her outfit every day. Occasionally I'll suggest something, but she usually has her own ideas and doesn't waver.

Like, yesterday she wore striped socks with flip flops to school. I kept asking if she was comfortable, she assured me she was. I was kind of surprised to see she was still wearing them when I picked her up.

DS likes to choose most of the time.

He is really particular about what socks and underwear he wants to wear and 95% of the time chooses those.

Both DD1 (4) and DD2 (2) have very strong opinions about what they wear, and are at least somewhat capable of removing items of clothing they object to/putting on what they want. For DD2, this mostly means she shouts until I get down the dress she wants, brings me the shoes she wants, or throws on a necklace/tiara/tutu with everything. For DD1, it sometimes means seasonally inappropriate choices, wearing inner wear as outer wear (think camis/bike shorts I'd use for UNDER sweaters/dresses), or patterns/colors that don't work. For awhile, she told me that wearing hot pink striped leggings with a coral printed top "matched" because it was all "pink". Oh dear! :)

I'm going to have to go @winniebee: 's route of really stripping down what's available to DD1 this fall, I think. I already tried to be sure that most of DD1's wardrobe works together color-wise but....yeah. We'll see.

My older tries to pick out his clothes daily. I've stopped putting stuff in his drawers that I object to because I want him to have the freedom to choice. I do, however reserve veto power for special days like first day of school, picture day, holidays, and special family events :)

My younger could care less so I pick.

@Boogs: My DD does that too! Pink matches pink, so she will try to pair a dark green shirt with pink mushrooms with hot pink floral shorts....

I let her choose her clothes within reason, but I get to veto if she picks something crazy.

Mine still let me pick and I love it. The younger one is too small to care still, and when the oldest tries to "match" he either will try to wear all of the same color like a red plaid shirt and red plaid shorts. A for effort, but I enjoy just still doing it for now lol.

DS: My son has been really into picking out his own clothes lately. He'll still wear clothes that we pick for him, but often he knows exactly what he wants to wear and will pick out something himself. I love it! One less thing to do for me.

DD: My daughter has always picked out her own clothes, or at the very least exercised veto power over our suggestions. Even from a young age, she would have strong opinions on what shoes she wanted to wear!
