We have two big dogs so I do a morning poop walk most mornings. They usually go after they eat breakfast or when they're on walks. If I see one another time then I'll pick it up then, plus LO is very good at coming and telling me if she sees one. We've been a lot more on top of it since LOs been around and luckily only had one incidence of her accidentally stepping in a pile.

Lol, not nearly as often as everyone here, once a month at the most. We have one dog, a big yard, and a very dry environment, so it dries out quickly. It has never been a problem with our little guy running around outside, he's never shown interest in it. Also our dog gets regular fecals, so we know he's worm free.

We pick up daily... I don't like to pick up immediately because it's easier for me to scoop them up when they're (TMI) hard and dry after sitting out for a few hours. I always end up mashing them into the grass if I try to pick up right after they poop!

We put in a dog poop compost because the thought of throwing poop into a landfill seems wrong to me. We have 2 big dogs so we go through the yard a few times a week and pick up the poop and put it in the compost. If you do it somewhat frequently it doesn't take very long.

@grizz: I like that idea, but we already have a portion fenced off for our vegetables. :( That is a good way to do it, though!

DH does it every time he mows the yard, so pretty much weekly. We are considering doing what our neighbor did though, and making a dog run portion of our yard.

I wish we had more time to take them on walks! We don't really have a front yard, it is all garden, so I think we will just have to get better about picking up after them or make a little designated area for LO maybe.

I don't usually have this problem (my dog refuses to go in the backyard), but if she does go back there, we pick it up immediately. She goes on walks, so we're in the habit of having a poop bag with us anyway.

DH usually picks up after them every other day or so. We are always outside w/ LO too so ill just pick up as I see things.

DS is older, but he plays in the front yard, and the dogs go in the back. We go around the backyard about once a week and clean up. They just generally don't play in the same area outside.

Kind of an odd question, but we have two dogs and next year LO will be old enough to play outside so I hope to have him out in the yard a lot. We have never been in a great habit of picking up up after the dogs, but I know I'll need to do better if he is going to be back there.

Do you just pick up after them every time you take them out so the yard is always clean? Some other method?
