I've also tried kale smoothies with a lot of fruit but he takes one sip then shakes his head no. Maybe I'll try some spinach next time.

he looooves those happy tot organic fruit/veg pouches so I feel a little better that at least he's getting some vegetables in that way.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: I've also found the ignoring thing helps sometimes too, because I notice he looks for my reaction all the time and starts smiling when he spits stuff out. :-P

@Foodnerd81: yes! That's the most frustrating part. People say he will eat if he's hungry, but he literally will not eat if it's something he doesn't like and then he's signing more and pointing at the pantry or refrigerator 30 min later. So I end up giving him PB&J because at least I know he will eat that.

Thanks ladies, glad to know I'm not alone :)

Same with my child. She just throws it to the floor. I've found that ignoring her a little at the beginning of the meal (so she'll actually try it independently) seems to help, but she goes in spurts. She hates most of the foods you mentioned, but magically started loving peppers recently, so I'm running with it! I'm sure it's a phase. If they're hungry, they'll eat! :silly:

Yeah. I'm in the same boat with my 15 month old. Only, one day she loves something, the next she won't even let it near her mouth. She used to eat a lot more too. I just keep offering and try to make sure there is something she likes at every meal, even if it means cheerios. The most annoying part is that she will refuse to eat more, doing her sign for all done, then an hour later she's hungry.

She eats a ton of cheese, which won't work for you, fruit, yogurt, cheerios... For protein it's hummus, chick nuggets (the morningstar farms fake chicken-- she doesn't care for real chicken nuggets), and sometimes chicken sausage or some kind of prepared meatballs.

She will also eat pouches and smoothies, so I try to get some veggies in that way. For lunch today I'm making smoothie with frozen berries, banana, baby kale, yogurt and almond milk. Hopefully she drinks it :)

I feel you! My 15.5 month old is a terrible eater..... but only with me & DH. She eats like a horse at nursery (daycare). Today was a good day - she refused breakfast, at lunch she picked the ham out of her sandwich and ate it but threw the bread and veggie sticks away, then refused her sweet & sour chicken and rice for dinner but ate some plain chicken chunks I replaced it with (no carbs or veggies). Yesterday, she ate two bites of cookie all day! I keep telling myself its just a phase!

Yep.

I try not to make mealtimes a battle. If he eats he eats, if he doesn't he doesn't. He has never woke up hungry in the MOTN so I try not to stress. I think it's usually a phase that passes! In the meantime, I would just try to focus on your reaction, since that's the only thing you can control (easier said than done of course) and just make sure you're providing him with good options. Right now all my toddler wants is cheese, apples, and grapes. Literally, that's all he's had today and it's 1:30pm. Sigh.

Oh and I should add that the only "meat" he loves is hot dogs but I refuse to give him hot dogs all the time.

Ok, so my 15 month old is becoming such a picky eater.

I started giving him finger foods very early on and he always ate a wide range of foods - He used to eat anything (even broccoli), now since he turned one he is so picky about stuff.

He refuses to eat any vegetable besides sweet potato. He used to love peas and broccoli, now he hates them.

He refuses any meat - occasionally he will eat chicken sausage. He also won't eat eggs anymore, he spits them out and makes a face.

He won't even eat pasta or rice!

He LOVES fruit. He will eat any kind of fruit.

Basically, his diet consists of pancakes/waffles, fruit, bread, peanut & almond butter, coconut yogurt, hummus (he loves garlic hummus), rice cakes, cheerios, and sweet potatoes.

I just get worried sometimes that he's not getting enough nutrients because he doesn't drink whole milk (he drinks almond milk) because of a dairy allergy.

And I'm running out of ideas on what to give him everyday. For lunch every day he either has peanut butter and "jelly"(puréed fruit), or peanut butter and banana sandwich. Occasionally he will eat turkey, hummus, and pita bread but depends on the day. A lot of times he spits the turkey out.

Anyone else's LO picky?!
