I would do a "snack dinner" - salami, crackers, cheese, carrots & fruit. You could also do chicken nuggets and fruit.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I have 3 kids - 2 who play soccer and softball (and yes I realize it was dumb to accidently have them in both at the same time) and 1 who plays baseball. So we have a lot of practices and games all over the place often back to back. Thermos is a good reminder for me. I'm also thinking of...
pigs in a blanket
quesadillas wrapped in foil
pitas with lunch meat/cheese
Hummus with veggies, cheese and crackers
Protein smoothies disguised as milkshakes

I like to save my eating out budget for relaxing time at restaurants not sprinting around eating junk I don't want. :silly: Just like when they were babies, I have to remind myself: fed is best.

My kids are gross eaters so I have a firm no eating in the car policy. The one time I had to break it, I packed them “breakfast for dinner” which was an eggo waffle, yogurt pouch and apple sauce pouch. It was a big hit and not messy at all :)

Honestly, I get that they have sandwiches everyday at lunch but one night a week where they also get sandwiches for dinner isn't the worst thing in the world. Switch up the bread for tortillas or maybe just the fillings. Maybe it's just my kids but they don't care about variety as much as I do.

This thread re-affirms that I cannot get my sh*t together for that kind of situation. I forgot (Yeah!) what kind of activities they happened to do back then ... but I asked my husband back then... how do the other moms do... do they feed before, during, after? what do they eat????? Mind you, I only have 2 kids. I now don't feed my son before hockey ( I let my husband decide to give him some crappy snack) and then whenever he comes home from hockey (between 6:15 and 7: 30pm), I have a hot meal for him. Yep, I have become a restaurant with first service... with time that varies. My daughter usually hangs out next to me while I cook. Her activities are on Saturday, and her only on Friday ends at 5:30 so we have time to go home.
Is that only my kids... but they don't need hot food....so in that case.. chicken nuggets... and mac and cheese in a thermos would have been my choice. My kids don't handle well sandwiches in the car...

Pinwheels/roll ups? Technically a sandwich but fun and different..

Bake crescent rolls with meat and cheese in them? Easy to hold and my DD eats them at room temp as leftovers.

Homemade lunchables: cut up meat and cheese slices with crackers. Add fruit and/or veggie.

Baked chicken taquitos.

Mini bagels with peanut butter or cream cheese.

Hard boiled eggs paired with a cheese stick, veggies, and crackers.

Mini pancakes or waffles served with sausage and fruit.

I have not, until this moment, generally felt more overwhelmed having three kids than two (I mean, I’m often overwhelmed, it’s just never been because of the number).

But this week I’m parenting solo and my normal help (my parents) are out of town. On Wednesday, all three of my kids have different activities on different sides of town (some starting/ending at the exact same time) between 430 and 7. I will obviously have to feed the kids all at different times, so even picking up fast food would be tricky. So I’m looking for suggestions for make-ahead, picnic-style, non-messy (since at least some of them will be eating in the car) foods that aren’t just sandwiches (which they get in their lunches every day). We also have a similar situation Monday.

First world problems, but I’m sure this will only happen more frequently as they get older, so I’d love to have options!
