The best way for her to develop it is practicing by feeding herself. At first she will use her palm to get the food into her mouth but she will develop the pincher grasp! But part of that could be we weren't really giving her tiny things to practice on? Just big chunks of food she could pick up in her fist. Even just since I posted this, she's managed to pincer grasp some of her puffs to her mouth so I think we're getting close to figuring this out!</p> <p>@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: she grabs her tag and other small toys with her thumb and forefinger. I notice DS will use his pincer grasp when he grabs smaller things like my necklace or tags on toys. With food he tries but gets exhausted by it and reverts back to his fist. He actually face planted into his food because he got so frustrated by not being able to put food in his mouth. I would say that even 2 weeks ago though, she was just mashing everything. But whenever she tries to pick these things up, she just ends up with them in her fist and then cannot figure out how to transfer them to her mouth.</p> <p> I know once she figures out the pincer grip, she will become better at being able to feed herself. I just don't know when to expect this to happen!</p> <p>ETA: Pincer grasp/grip = picking up small objects with the thumb and forefinger. </p>
