@chopsuey119: yea I think kids can have "discipline" even before ten months but I don't think time out is effective at that age. We would do a stern no and move her hand and give her something else to hold.

You know, I am realizing that at home she wiggles away and plays so often pinching occurs when we are out and about. She does well usually but I wonder if maybe it is a stress thing? Or maybe she always is put down at home if she pinches so she only does it when we are out? I just can't put her down at the grocery store or the pool. But it is also embarrassing running into people at the golf club and yelping because you are pinched :-)

@Thehistoryofus: my bil and sil started "disciplining" their 2nd using the technique at around 10 months. It worked for them!
We decided not to use it with our Lo.. She still slaps and bites us :P

@Cole: Do you put her down when she pinches? That can help a lot!

I would be careful not to have too big of a physical response. Babies often love big responses, even if they are negative!

We had pinching issues for a while. I dont think at 10 months you can put in time out.

I would give her small time outs. When she pinches, firmly say no pinching! And grab her hand.
If she does it again. Repeat.
3rd time. Repeat, but put her in a pack and play or in another room for 30 seconds-a minute.

If she doesn't know she's doing it.. I'm not sure if I'd use the time out..

My Lo never pinched us, but she slaps and bites!

Has anyone dealt with constant pinching from a baby? I have recently started caring for a 10 month old baby and she pinches all the time, it is a full hand pinch too.. The worst is when she is on your hip she grabs the back of your arm and squeezes! We are at a loss as to how to fix it because I don't think she realizes she is even doing it, when we react she either laughs or cries. Her mom was saying she avoids holding her because it is so unpleasant and her siblings arereally losing their patience...

Does anyone have a suggestion? We are all black and blue!
