I guess a nursing necklace will help then. I will consider that.

She does this. She invented a game where she puts her fingers to my mouth, and I gobble them up. It was so cute at first, but now when I'm trying to get her to sleep. She also pulls the fingers in mouth move. Sigh. Kids be crazy.

@Mrsbells: mine has done this a couple times if he is overtired. He always uses his hands, but the overtired hands are pinchers and squeezers. It is a bit alarming. "Gentle hands' is something I expected to have to teach a toddler, not an infant!

LO used to do that too. Then I got a nursing necklace and he'd play with that.

At 16 months old he still fondles the other side if I let him (ie now). He isn't scratching just twisting and stroking. I sometimes stop him but most of the time it isn't an issue.

Yes!! My LO started doing this when she was around 5 months old. She's 6.5 months now and doesn't show any signs of stopping :( It really hurts when she sticks her fingers into her mouth at the same time. Today she kept pulling and pinching on my areola -- OW. I noticed little scabs and scratch marks all over my poor boobs :( They've really been through hell and back!

Unless I give her something to play with or hold her hand, LO will pinch, scratch and squeeze me while nursing. Does your LO do this? Is this just a phase? she is 4 months +

ETA: she also tries to put her fingers in her mouth while nursing especially when she is sleepy
