Our daughter has had it a couple of times. The doctor usually says you need to administer the ointment for at least 24 hours before returning to daycare. Also, wash your hands like crazy. That stuff is super contagious!

That looks exactly like what my LO's pink eye looked like. Since you're going to the doctor tomorrow anyway, just use a warm compress in the meantime. The doctor should be able to give you prescription drops, which should clear it up in a day or so. Just make sure you wash your hands often, as pink eye is very contagious!

Wow, on my laptop those photos are really gross - SORRY! Lol, they didn't look so disgusting on my phone!

@yellowbird: @Mrs. Champagne: thank you!

@Ginger333: @hilsy85: Oooh, didn't think of that! I put a few drops of bm in her eyes and a few in my own... one of my eyes felt a little "off" - but I wear contacts so I'm hoping it was just dry or something. Maybe the bm will ward if off if it's pinkeye!

@brownie: thanks! I know, I am so worried I'm going to get it! Especially because I'm always nuzzling her, etc. Hopefully I didn't catch it before finding out what she had.

@luckypenny: yep, I'm washing all the time! thanks!

@Boogs: that's helpful to hear that your LOs eyes looked the same. I thought pinkeye would turn the whites of her eyes red, but apparently that isn't necessary. Glad to hear it cleared up fast for your LO! I was reading 1-2 weeks online and that was freaking me out... no idea what I will do about work if that's the case!

I agree with breastmilk--drop a few drops in the corners of her eyes. Hope she feels better!

Exactly what my LO's eyes looked like when he had it. With just warm compresses it cleared up surprisingly fast. His pediatrician gave some prescription eye drops, but we really only used them once.

Just make sure you wash your hands lots and lots and avoid touching your own face so you don't get it!

DD had it awhile ago. Just use a warm washcloth with just water to help the gunk. We were given drops too. It cleared up in a dy and a half but I kept washing my hands like crazy!!!

When they don't have anymore symptoms. As long as there is weeping and redness they are contagious. My doctor recommended a few drops of baby shampoo in water to wipe the ucky's away. Also for you to rinse your own eyes so you don't get it.

I doesn't last too long ... I use breastmilk in addition to the ointment you get - clears it up right quick.

LOs eyes were crusted shut this morning... I had to use warm compresses for 20 min this morning before I could get them open. :( Poor babe. I took her to the ped this afternoon and she said it was pinkeye, even though the white's of her eyes aren't red. She looked at the inside of the bottom lids and said they were red. I guess they can't tell if it's bacterial or viral, so they gave me an ointment to use. I forgot to ask when she can go back to daycare... does anyone know when she will stop being contagious? We were also supposed to go to a party on Saturday, but I think that's out. She goes back to the ped tomorrow for her 9 mo checkup, so I can ask them then.

Has anyone's LO had pinkeye before? Any tips? How long did it last?
