@Mrs squirreld: I'm right with you. My first pregnancy the m/s hit right at 6 weeks and stuck around until 16 weeks. I only threw up once, but I had this terrible queasy feeling every single afternoon and night for ten weeks straight. I cried frequently and practically danced for joy when it was gone for good. This time around it's still pretty bad, especially in the afternoon and night, but I think I'm doing a much better job of managing it. I have lots of protein filled meals and I carry cashews and almonds with me wherever I go. Peppermint tea also has calmed my tummy down more than once, and the accupressure wrist bands are boss. But there are still nights that I just lay on the couch, moan, and cry.

Sometimes it's hard. I'm thankful to be pregnant. I wanted this. But there are parts of pregnancy that are just awful and I think that it's totally okay to acknowledge them as such. (Though, I do my best to not complain to people who I know are trying very hard to be pregnant)

Also. Those pictures? Paradise. I can't wait for you to be nauseous in that beautiful place...maybe it will take your mind off it a bit?

Mine lasted awhile... up until about 20 weeks. But it was the worst around weeks 8-12. Mostly just throwing up in the morning first thing when I was up then nauseous all day long :(

What helped for me was constantly sucking on hard candies like jolly ranchers or life-savers. I also tried B6 and those acupressure wrist bands.

Don't worry it will get better!

stopped at 16 weeks almost to the day... Sorry to have to say :( I was also banking on it stopping on week 13/14....

Fingers crossed yours stops in time for your beautiful trip!

@Mrs squirreld: I started at week 5 too and week 8 was probably my lowest moment. I only ever left the couch or bed to puke and was on two different types of prescription meds by then. I hurled until about week 16, but did struggle with nausea until into the third tri, and that was with medication. There's nothing to suggest you will be the same but, if I were you, I would knock that trip back a bit. Cars and heat were the two things that made me feel even worse, heat especially. I did a trip to England in week 14 and survived but it was hard, and I did throw up in a couple of car parks. Hope you feel better soon, ms is awful but the outcome is sooooo worth it : )

Oh and my biggest advice is to always always always have simple snacks on your like crackers and dry fruit, and never let your stomach get empty. This is extra important in cars and plains- I almost lost it when I couldn't get to my snacks before landing- I mean full on tears, sweating, reaching for the barf bag. I would have been ok with my crackers.

I was constantly nauseous from weeks 6-12, then it started getting dramatically better between 12 and 13. I never threw up, just felt like absolute crap the whole time, with certain times of the day being better than others.

It was HARD getting through the work day. I was lucky that the worst of it was around Christmas when I had two weeks off and my sympathetic MIL to cook for me. I thinks weeks 8-9 were the absolute worst. You will get through it and it most likely will get a million times better at the start of the second tri.

As for your vacation I hope it works out bc it looks amazing. Is there any way you can push it to your second trimester? I do think fresh air and water would help, though honestly putting in a bathing suit was not appealing at that point- I had major bloat. Good luck!

It does get better! I felt dreadful from 6-8 weeks; but weeks 9&10 have been much better / more manageable... I'm not convinced it won't pay me a second visit but hopefully you'll at least get a break from it like I did.

I threw myself several pity parties; hang in there mama, you can do it! If you need ideas for coping, lots of ladies posted responses to a thread I started a couple of weeks ago...

I was sick from 5.5 weeks to 20 weeks. Vitamin b6 was what helped me the most. I got a liquid form of it from my OB and held a swallow under my tongue for 30 seconds twice a day. It definitely helped but it didn't solve the problem. I just had to wait it out. My diet was like that of a toddler: mac n'cheese, soup, bread. It was all that I could stomach.

Week 15 here, too. But mine was more of a low level, all the time nausea. I retched a few times but only threw up once. Not sure if that's just because I'm stubborn. And I was sort of a zombie at work.

Have you been in the car a long time? Because I found the 1 hour trip to my inlaws house made it worse :(

I am sorry you are sick and I am sad to say, I know what you mean. I had to take a couple sick days because it got so bad at 11 weeks! My Dr. finally gave me a RX and it has been amazing... but I took the last pill 5 hours ago and I need her to get it refilled... on a Sunday...

I might consider rescheduling that trip until you KNOW you will feel better. Even with the RX I feel not so hot. I vomit alot less but I still get sick and my stomach constantly feels like it wants to throw up and my body is (thankfully) preventing it and attempting to dull the feeling. It sucks.

Just see how YOU feel once you have taken the RX for about a week and keep in mind that it is really difficult to throw up in a car... and heat can make the least pregnant person suffering with MS puke. Just be cautious for yourself. I would hate an entire trip to get ruined because you are sick the entire time.

Please someone tell me this will end soon.... Morning sickness sucks!! I am only 8 weeks... someone said to me it should only just be beginning..I think I have been sick since about week 5. Majority of people seem to think it ends by the beginning of the second tri? Week 13?
I don't know how all you FT working ladies are coping.. I work self employed from home and I feel like I get nothing done. I feel sick like 90% of the day. Urgh.. don't get me wrong I am thrilled to be pregnant...in fact I feel terrible for complaining, but I just want someone to assure me I won't feel like this for the whole 40 weeks!

My doctor prescribed me anti nausea medication, but stupidly I didn't get the script filled before the weekend and now no where will be open til monday. She looked at me like I was a crazy person because I told her from weeks 11- weeks 13 DH and I are going on a 6000km (3700mile) round camping trip up north ( where it is hot hot hot) and we are driving the whole way. I have been looking forward to this for months so I am praying I will A) feel better by then or B) the medication will work for me.

So ladies tell me... when did your morning sickness ease?
and lets just have a nice photo of where I am going to make me feel better. :-)
