LO seems fine at the moment, nothing new has popped up and the spot on her leg has gotten much smaller (maybe an insect bite?) Hopefully I was wrong and it isn't pityriasis, I just remember being covered all over in those dang spots for weeks and weeks.

When I had it in college (and was misdiagnosed several times as ringworm) I finally went to a derm and he knew right away what it was. I was told its usually triggered by a virus that clears up before the rash even starts and it isnt contagious. I was given a cream to help with the itchiness

@FannyMae: My 6 yr old got it in March of this year - After a week I took him to the DR because I didn't know what it was - she knew right away that it was Pityriasis rosea - dr said the rash could last months - oy!

The worst part lasted a good 3 weeks and then it took another month or so until it was finally gone for good. It didn't leave any scarring either.

here is a pic of his torso

@FannyMae: oh, I didn't realize you were in Australia! Yeah, I wouldn't go outside either. I'm glad to hear it's not bothering her!

haven't had a chance to go doctor yet (its 9am on a sunday). laying in the sun is out of the question at the moment - we are in the middle of cold winter here in australia :) it doesn't seem to be itching her and the large patch on her leg has settled a bit this morning. might have to wait til tomorrow to get to our GP but she seems fine at the moment.

Ugh, I had it a couple years ago and it took weeks to go away. I think laying in the sun is what helped it go away. Can you let her run around outside naked for a little bit each day? I also took cook oatmeal baths each night, but I don't know how a toddler would feel about that!

My 3 year old has what I *think* is Pityriasis Rosea (heading to the doctor in the morning to confirm). She had a very small patch on her chest for a few weeks, which I thought was originally just eczema, but today I noticed a large red patch on her upper thigh, and during bathtime it looks like a few more little red spots have appeared on her torso/arm/lower back/underarm.

*sigh*. I had it when I was a teenager, and even though it was not very itchy (other than the herald patch) it lasted for aaaaageeess. Anyone have experience with this with a LO? Im 23 weeks preg today, and I'm not sure if it is a worry for pregnant women - I've had it before, don't know if it can be caught again? ANNOYED!
