This bacon, spinach, carbonara pizza recipe is my all time favorite. I make it using jarred roasted red pepper Alfredo Classico brand sauce. It is amazing!

A couple of non-tomato sauce ideas:

Breakfast pizza: roasted red peppers pureed into a sauce base, scrambled eggs, chopped cooked bacon or sausage, cheddar cheese

White pizza: ricotta thinned with water as a base, chopped spinach, roasted zucchini and grape tomatoes, mozzarella

Sautéed, caramelized onions, fig jam thinned with water as the sauce, gobs of goat cheese

Pesto as the sauce, mozzarella

Alfredo sauce thinned with water, chopped clams, chopped boiled potatoes, parsley

I just use the Pillsbury rolled up pizza crust. Then combine olive oil and mixed garlic and brush on the crust. Add sliced/cooked Italian sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, feta, raw spinach, a little mozzarella, and a generous sprinkling of Tuscan Spice on top. So, So good.

We love pastrami pizza. Mustard for sauce, mozzarella and pastrami. I love it with pickles but add them after baking as hubby hates them. We've also added pepporcinis with great success

We make lots of pizza at our house!

This crust recipe is ridiculously quick and easy (hence the name haha) http://allrecipes.com/recipe/20171/quick-and-easy-pizza-crust/

One of my kids doesn't like tomato sauce so depending on the season, I either do just cheese with garlic and fresh chopped spinach, pesto with cheese, or pureed squash and cheese.
When it's nice out we make personal size pizzas and cook on the grill.
To get the kids involved, have them help make the crust, then divide it up and bake just the crust for a few minutes. You can have them put their own toppings on it from there.

I usually make a double batch of my favorite pizza dough, divide it into 4 dough balls, and freeze them. Pizza dough is really easy to make if you have a mixer at home, and it is way cheaper to make it yourself rather than buy it in the store.

This is my favorite dough recipe: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/my-favorite-pizza/

We usually put onions, red/yellow bell pepper, mushrooms, and turkey pepperoni on our pizza. I have also made Pioneer Woman’s fig, prosciutto, and arugula pizza several times, and it is really good.

http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/fig-prosciutto-pizza-with-arugula/

We like making this dough when we have time to make a from scratch dough.

http://www.thewednesdaychef.com/the_wednesday_chef/2011/02/jamie-olivers-pizza-dough.html

We like to make our own pizza sauce with a can of tomato paste, 1.5 cups hot water, garlic powder and Italian seasoning (1 tsp each) and a pinch of sugar. If we don't have time we like Pomi pizza sauce.

My favorite is red sauce, goat cheese, and arugula. Love cracking an egg on top too.

Another favorite is BBQ chicken. Sweet Baby Rays sauce, mozzarella, chopped leftover rotisserie chicken, red onion and cilantro. We make the same pizza but swap out the BBQ sauce for peanut sauce and add pineapple for a Thai peanut pizza.

Red sauce and mozzarella plus Roasted red peppers, black olives, and feta is also one of my favorites.

DH just likes all the meats and green peppers. Boys like pepperoni with Canadian bacon.

Our go to topping combo is ricotta, spinach, and either meatballs or grilled chicken (on a regular tomato sauce and mozzarella pizza). I also love figs or fig jam with arugula and prosciutto and feta or blue cheese.

I agree frozen or fresh naan makes a great crust. Or when I was ambitious and had more time I used to make homemade pizza crust with a recipe from Serious Eats, which made three batches of dough and you could freeze the extras. Now I’m lucky if I buy the balls of fresh dough in the grocery story and stretch it myself.

We made them this week with whole wheat wraps - I cooked it in a pan on the stove until it got crispy and then finished them under the broiler. It worked well!

Do you have a gas stove? A really easy (and lower carb... I think) method of crust is to char a tortilla on the open flame then top it and bake it. The charring makes it crisp.

Trader Joe’s frozen naan also makes a good fast crust in individual size. You can top it frozen and it will be warm by the time your toppings are baked.

We sometimes do pesto on there instead of sauce with thinly sliced grilled chicken and a little cheese. I do that to use up pesto I have frozen.

We also really enjoy getting the Flatout wraps and using them for personal thin crust pizzas. They work great on the grill (we use a grill pan, like for veggies) or in the oven (2 fit on my sheet pans).

Tonight we tried Wewalka pizza crust from the refrigerator section and really enjoyed it! Bonus: it came rolled up on ready to bake parchment paper.

I sprinkled it with mozzarella cheese, topped with slices of pear, chopped bacon and brie. I made a balsamic glaze by boiling 1/2 c. balsamic vinegar with 1/8 c. brown sugar, drizzled on pizza. YUM!

Toss out your best pizza ideas! Inspiration, recipes, links, random ingredient combinations, I'll take them all!

In efforts to do a better job with meal planning, I think we're going to start having homemade pizza once a week. I don't want it to necessarily be a cheese and carb fest, but this is also survival!
