I think ultrasound tech is the job you should do if you are great at reading those "magic eye" things hahahaha. I always sucked at them and I am hopeless with ultrasounds, too!

It sounds like we're debunking this. We need a bee who is an ultrasound tech to give us the answers. I read your placenta is a big grey blob, lol. Isn't everything some version of black, grey or white on an ultrasound haha.

@lawbee11: I would presume so, but honestly, I'm no doctor. I'm going to ask our RE about this when I go in for my 10w ultrasound on the 20th. I would assume of all people, REs would be a good point of reference.

Oh Jeez! I will have to pay attention! Is this your left (like same side as your left hand) or the technician's left (like left when looking at you.?)

I asked at my 12 weeks scan where the placenta was and she showed me, but said it moves around a lot-- or rather, as the uterus grows, the relative position changes. I just wanted to know if it was anterior and I'd have to wait longer to feel the baby kick, but she seemed like she couldn't really tell me anything. So, I have no idea where it was, and the only picture I have it just the head and shoulders.

I *just* asked my nurse practitioner about it. She basically said it's bunk because the placenta moves around too much. They only had mine listed as anterior/posterior and whether it was previa. Nothing about left or right.

@marionberry: Can you tell where your placenta is attached without asking the tech? Here is my 8w u/s picture (it was transvaginal). The baby looks like it's attached on the right, but does that automatically mean the placenta is attached on the right?

I read an article (and subsequent study) which says that if your placenta is on the left, it's a girl and if it's on the right, it's a boy (almost 98% accurate supposedly). They also say that you can tell this as early as 5 weeks. Was this right for you? I'm curious if this is really a feasible way of gender prediction.

FYI: In a transvaginal ultrasound, left is left and right is right. However in a transabdominal ultrasound it would be the opposite, if you're wanting to take a look. Oh and the yolk sac is not the placenta (I had to google this myself, lol).
