Something sweet (cookies, brownies, muffins etc -usually homemade) something savoury (cheese muffins is a fave!) and some kind of fruit.

@MrsRcCar: we didn't host but my kids eat a ton and I know our friends are struggling a bit so I didn't want to take their food!

It seems like we all think of the same general things, fruit, cheese and crackers!

We typically don't host because our house is small. However I generally bring fresh fruit, fresh veggies, fruit snacks, and water. We have a lot of food restrictions and so do most of our friends so we all usually bring our own food. 😂

Haha, this is the first time I've seen suggestions for coffee for playdates (for moms), but then I realized that it's because I usually plan play dates in the afternoon and then we do wine or prosecco or something! haha

I'm planning a playdate for lo's daycare class next week and was planning on having bagels and cream cheese (it's a morning gathering), cut fruit, cheese cubes, chips and guac, coffee and milk and sugar, water, apple cider

Pirate's booty, string cheese, apples. But mostly because our friends have allergies and I know those are safe.

Diet Coke, water, and coffee.
Water and milk for the kids in Take n Toss straw cups.

Banana bread for moms, which is fine for kiddos to eat and isn't super messy if they want some.

For kids, I'd do animal crackers, Goldfish, and neat fruit, like clementines, grapes, or blueberries, or dried fruit. If they need a more substantial snack, then yogurt pouches or GoGurts.

I always do some berries (easy for kids to pick up) and maybe some hummus and those dried pea snacks. Or avocado dip with pita chips.

Last night, we actually had a "dinner date" with one of my mommy friends. We both have two kids and husbands who work lateish---together, we made crab cakes, broccoli, avocado, and herbed new potatoes and served that to the kids. The mommies also had champagne, haha.

I like to do fruit, hummus and veggies, and mini muffins or little sandwiches (basically the same set up as PinkElephant) but minus the cheese since several of DD's friends have a dairy allergy. I usually have some sort of special drink for the kiddos if their moms let them have stuff like that (hot chocolate made with non-dairy milk or lemonade are big hits) and coffee and potentially mimosas for the mommies. Our playdates tend to run into lunch so I want to make sure that we have something that is substantial enough for a meal.

Same as @PinkElephant: Basically cheese and crackers and some fruit of some sort. Sometimes hummus (especially when I had a couple friends on mspi diets).

Cut fruit, cheese, and some kind of carb - like muffins, bagels, or coffee cake. Stuff that works for both moms and kids and is easy to pick st in small bites. If there are little babies, I have puffs or Cheerios as well.

What do you usually set out/bring? In the past I've generally done nothing because we are hanging out with family or extremely close friends. Today is the first time we're having an in-home play date with new friends and I'd like to have an arsenal of ideas for next time!
