I've made it and it was easy, but LO got some store-bought Play-doh as a gift and I was fine with it, except that it seemed to dry out quickly, which was odd because I accidentally grew mold on the stuff I made! (I threw it out, of course.) The problem with the DIY version is that if you want colors, the food dye will stain your hands, so maybe don't make it just before going someplace where blue hands would be out of place. :) Yes, you can in theory stir it in with a spoon, but who has that kind of patience? ;)

I made some play dough back in the summer and put it in a air tight container. It still works great, and it was easy to make a big batch. LO likes it when I roll the play dough into balls and plays with them.

If you want a good deal on play dough look at the calendar store at the mall (calendar club maybe? They sell games also): I found a 4 pack for $2 and a z25 pack for like $10 since everything is half off. Might be even cheaper now.

I like the store bought kind, only because it's easier to store and I suck at making homemade play dough lol ;)

So far we just have some that my MIL made for us. I like the idea of making it because then if it gets eaten (by LO or the dog) it's not as huge of a deal. As she gets older I'll probably feel better about buying it, but then again as she gets older it'll be fun to make together.

Do you make your own play dough or buy it? I like the little containers the name brand stuff comes in (for storage) and I really don't have the time to make up batches of play dough although it might be fun. We just got a pack of 10 small containers for $5 at Walmart.
