We also did/do eat, play, sleep to dissociate feeding and sleeping. That way your LO isn't dependent on nursing or taking a bottle to fall asleep. It's always worked great for us!

We try to do diaper, eat, play, sleep... sometimes there's an eat after the play too, to get her off to sleep. We are very flexible though, we try follow her cues.

We do eat, play, sleep. Sometimes, it gets changed around. If he's not falling asleep, we'll put him on the activity gym and play until he's tired. Usually when he wakes up, we feed him. This morning, he was wide awake, so I played with him for a bit, fed him in preparation for daycare, then he fell asleep on me after eating. If it was the weekend, it would have been perfect, but we woke him up to a happy, smiling baby!

Wow, a lot of playing after eating. I definitely understand now why you would want to do that! I guess DS needs to get out if the sleepy stage first before that will work for us. I just fed him and tried to play after but he just layed there like a lump with his eyes rolling in the back of his head because he's so tired!

We did eat, play, sleep until he was 4 months old and started only taking 30 minute naps. Then EASY was not so easy.

At 8.5 months we now do bottles before nap. (have been this way since about 5 months old) Otherwise he is way too distracted to eat. He sleeps through the night and takes good naps so "nursing to sleep" didn't seem to mess with his sleep.

We do eat play sleep...As pp said it helps dissociate nursing from sleeping, and it also helps naturally spread out feedings.

We do eat play sleep. She's a bad napper though so its often eat, play, sleep, play, eat again.

We do eat, play, sleep. I believe that the purpose of eat, play, sleep is to attempt to disassociate eating and sleeping so that a dependency cannot form.

In the early days, LO used to pass out as soon as he finished eating too and I just let him sleep. Some people will wake their LO up and play a bit before sleep but when my LO was asleep, it was really hard to wake him up. As he got older and got past the sleepy newborn phase, he stopped falling asleep while eating.

Do you play with your LO before or after eating during the day? I typically play with DS before eating and then he passes out right after, but wondering if he'll nap longer if I play with him and wear him out a little bit right before a nap? He is 8 weeks old. What works for you?
