We also have a step 2 plastic one https://www.step2.com/p/neat-tidy-cottage/

Both the 5.5 year old and the 18 month old play in it a lot and we’ve had it for 2 years. I just flip it on its side and spray it off easily, super light to move around but sturdy. The working doorbell and mail slot are hits and it came with a cell phone which they fight over haha

@DesertDreams88: @Jennibenni: I would prefer wood, but plastic isn’t out of the question if I get is as a more temporary solution. I do like that plastic would be easy to hose off!

@catgirl: Our first choice would be to build one. My dad is a great woodworker and built us one on stilts when I was a kid. But with all that’s going on, I don’t think he would be able to come over and help.

@gotkimchi: @lindseykaye: I’ve seen both of those and would consider them. It’s good to know yours has lasted in a shady yard lindseykaye!

We have the KidKraft Garden View play house and it’s been great. It was easy to put together thanks to the preassembled walls, and it’s held up really well in our shady backyard. The roof and awnings could probably use a power wash but after 1.5 yrs I am happy with how it’s weathered.

Bought this Step2 one about six months ago and I'm very happy with it! I chose it because it was the best combo of affordable and inoffensive color I could find. Note that the back side "wall" is really more of a connector, as it doesn't go all the way to the floor. Probably why it's less expensive than some of the others.

My kids have enjoyed it and gotten a lot of use out of it and still play in it every day.

We bought one of the Step2 plastic ones on OfferUp for like $30. I think with Amazon and many other retailers having delayed delivery and higher prices, that might be your best bet.

The plastic isn't instagram-worthy, but, it's durable in all the weather elements and kid shenanigans.

We started looking for a playhouse but realized that many of them are way too short for our tall five year old. So we reached out to our handyman and he is pricing out a few build options for us. This is the picture we sent him as inspiration - but we don't want the platform/slide/ladder - just the house portion. This is something that he could build in his workshop and just deliver, so it seems like a really safe way to support a small business. I'm hoping we will be able to move forward with it - just depends on pricing.

We have the backyard discovery cedar playhouse

We only paid $139 though and it seems about $100 higher now! I’m happy with it for my 3 and 6yo but I don’t know that I would spend $240 on a kids play thing

Seeing as we’ll be spending even more time in our yard, we’re thinking of getting our kids a playhouse. The two bigger ones are almost 6 & 3. Our yard has a lot of tree cover, so the playhouse will take some beating with leaves and sticks occasionally falling on it, so we want something relatively durable. We already have a swingset and sandbox, so we’re looking for a standalone playhouse.

I’ve seen the kid kraft ones, but am not sure about durability.

Suggestions?
