We hope that our kids will be the same way. My family lives in Florida, and his in California and always remember going there and spending lots of time on the beach. I grew up on the coast of NC (my childhood house was 5 minutes from the beach) and I too have memories of going to the beach. However, my mom was very overprotective and I was really scared of the ocean until I was a teen. Right now DH and I live the furthest away from the coast than we ever have (1 hour) but I'm sure I'll be taking our future kids to the beach a lot. I'm hoping I can find a happy medium because I don't want to scare my kids to death, but I want them to realize that the ocean can be dangerous.
