@mediagirl: not for kids, but there's a place called Williamsburg Pottery and it.is.amazing. It's a massive flea-market style store and my god they sell everything. It's all brand new and self serve. We've got some of the best wine glasses from there for like $2.

Every time we are in the area I want to stop and get stuff for our home!

Oooooh. Williamsburg is a GREAT idea! I don't know why I didn't think about that. The good news is M is pretty happy just walking around right now so we could totally do a self-guided walking tour. And that lego place? Heck yeah. 3 hours from us and 3 hours from them. Perfect!!

@Leialou: @mediagirl: I second Williamsburg! Great town. We've stayed there overnight a few times while passing through, and loved it. Chloe had a great time too, and she was 9m the first time!

I did a quick search for things to do in Williamsburg with toddlers.

http://beyond-bricks.com/ - a place to play with legos for $5/kid. Parents play free

http://www.jamescitycountyva.gov/recreation/ lots of parks

http://www.williamsburgwalkingtours.com/ historical tours. Children are free.

http://www.piratescove.net/ My favorite putt-putt place ever. I know M is young, but my parent's took me to putt-putt at that age. Of course I didn't play properly, but there is video of me enjoying it. The only downside is people being impatient and snippy.

Bush Neck Farm - pick your own blueberries. They don't have a website.

https://historicjamestowne.org/ - Historic Jamestown.

http://www.colonialwilliamsburg.com/ Colonial Williamsburg

What about Virginia Beach? I've never been there but I've heard good things.

Sticking with the Virginia theme, I really love colonial Williamsburg. That might not be fun with toddlers though.

We want to meet up with our friends who live in Baltimore. They have a 2.5 year old, we have a 2 year old. We don't want to drive 5 hours and we don't want them to have to drive 5 hours either. Where should we meet up in the middle that would be a fun place to spend some time with toddlers - in July or August?

We would prefer a place that has free or cheap things to do - no Great Wolf Lodge type things.

So, help me search the map. Where can we meet and what can we do?
