We got a few free bottles from the baby show and we bought the walmarr brand inserts. You can buy inserts that fit them at Target or BJ's (I bought them from BJ's). It saves SO much dishwashing time, hot water, soap, sterilization... Like others said, you need the insert to use the bottle. We bought Target brand so it was cheaper, but still it adds up. You can just pop in a new insert and nipple without washing the bottle. But you got really good deals! If at home, I would just reuse the bottles a few times before washing. But if your LO is going to daycare, for example, and you need to bring pre-filled bottles then you would need a few more. It depends on your situation. I would check out Playtex Ventaire. We used the drop-ins for way longer than we should have. It gets expensive to buy those inserts!
