We had a few good nights last week and weekend, but as of Sunday night, we are back to the same. My working hypothesis is that it's a combination of (1) language development--they're receptive language has taken off in the last 3 weeks and their active language is showing some improvement as well and (2) teething--they are definitely having some teeth push down. Unfortunately, I have no idea if they're going to actually cut through anytime soon, but I can feel the points of them through the gums now. I think the first couple of weeks might have been more of the developmental/language stuff because they didn't seem to be in pain at all. The last couple weeks, we've had more nights that they seemed super fussy. Good luck! We indulged him, slept next to him in our bed or on the floor, and one night each time he just went back to normal. We had been doing a later bedtime in hopes that if he was only going to sleep 10 hours before the meds wore off they should at least be OUR sleeping hours...but that only worked for a couple weeks. Went to bed much much easier, and slept until 6:30 (with one wakeup for more meds at 2, but he went right back to sleep). Please God let these canines come through quickly. There was a week where he just kept having night wakings (like very 2 hrs) after about a month or so of awesome sleeping. I thought it was teething, a sleep regression, a cold, everything under the sun! What helped? Nothing, nothing but time. CIO certainly did not help and only made matters worse. I want to think that he popped a tooth so that our sleep deprivation was not in vain. Could be a language explosion too because he has started using sign language more effectively in communicating his wants and can understand us better too. But who knows what it was. </p> <p>We are still recovering from the "sleep mystery" and he still wakes up once a night sometimes. But once I pick him up and comfort him he goes back to sleep; if I leave him to cry no one gets sleep. When they were little, the pain wouldn't have gone away that quickly, but it is something I'll watch for. He did fall asleep when I put him in his car seat. We tried to cry it out again this time and it didn't work either. It is maybe getting slightly easier now than it was a week ago, but it still pretty bad. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this... I have such little patience for sleepless nights and they take a toll on me. He's had a few nights that he slept like normal, but most nights we've had tons of problems. One night he was awake from 10:30-3 a.m. He was very awake and was playful and happy as long as you didn't try to lay him down. Other nights, he seems sleepy and will fall back asleep if we're holding him, but will wake up the second we lay him down and start screaming. Leaving him to CIO is not working, at least not in the amount of time we can let him cry without waking Finn. We've tried teething tablets, ibuprofen, and giving him a snack. All seem to have "worked" at various times, but other times have no impact whatsoever. </p> <p>He's happy during the day and naps fine. He's eating fine. No temp. No major signs of teething, other than a little drool and chewing. </p> <p>Is there a mystery 15-month sleep regression or something? WTH is going on with his sleep? He's my good sleeper, and this mama needs him to get back to that stat. Help! </p>
