Maybe you could also have them come during the last few weeks of your maternity leave and work as your mother's helper? It will give you some time to train the girls exactly how YOU want and observe them caring for your baby first hand. I seriously think she was a better "parent" than me - so patient, energetic, played games I never would've thought of. Now, our circumstances have changed and LO2 is in daycare. I was nervous but it's been great too! I was more impressed by her knowledge of babies than some of the grad students we interviewed. I cried so much when she went back to school at the end of the summer! We did this for our nanny/housekeeper when she watched our baby as a newborn.</p> <p>But yes...it'll be fine, and most likely you'll end up with a more flexible toddler/preschooler for it! DD1 was often left with a live-in nanny (overseas, where this is normal) for short stretches (while I went to the doctor, ran errands, and worked a bit) and has soooo much less separation anxiety than DD2 (who moved to the US at 3 months old so went wherever I went as a SAHM). But I totally get it. The first time I left DD1, I was convinced our nanny (Who is probably the most loving and kind hearted woman out there) was going to run off with her and sell her or something ridiculous...plus the more rational fears like "what if she stops breathing and the nanny doesn't notice, because I totally would!!" ☺️😊 it's normal, and it gets better. Baby #2 would then be part time with MIL and part time with one of the college girls (assuming they are available, college schedules change every quarter!). We really love them and they are great with our 2-year old, but I'm just having a little anxiety leaving such a tiny baby with someone who isn't kin. </p> <p>I know people do it all the time so I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance that it will be okay :-) Thanks mamas! </p>
