@fuzzypeaches: thanks for the update! It's encouraging. A few weeks of this madness is frightening, but I guess I have no choice but to endure it. There's not much else I can do, anyway! We already have a solid routine in place and we're always home for nap, so I guess I'll just have to wait it out!

@BabyTsMom: it lasted a few weeks and then he went right back to normal! It happened again around 21 months for another few weeks. He is now 2 and naps amazing ☺️

What ultimately worked was being consistent about trying to put him down at the same time everyday. If he didn't nap and continued to cry after 30 min I would give up. if he didn't nap that day, I would put him down at night a bit earlier to help make up some sleep deprivation. I can't lie as each time was horrible but I think they just have phases and if he was a good sleeper before he should become a good sleeper again!

@fuzzypeaches: Can I get an update on how your LO's naps are? I hope they improved?
My LO is 16 months old and today, for the first time, he refused to nap! I eventually got him down, but he only slept for 45 minutes. (His norm is 1.5-2.5 hours). To his defense, he's going through a total language explosion so I wonder if his brain is in overdrive? I am so nervous for tomorrow's nap and I'm sure that doesn't help at all.......

@edelweiss: oh God I hope so that it's just a phase. I'm already thinking about nap time today and getting anxious, which obviously doesn't help!

a little after my LO turned 2, he started fighting his nap. at daycare he napped fine, but not at home on the weekends. it was rough for about a month. sometimes we'd let him whine for a while, other times he would be content, going around his room and pulling all the books down from the shelves, other times we would get him out and admit defeat. then i tried not engaging with him when i went back into the room after he was crying--i'd calmly put him in his bed, put his blanket on him, and leave without saying anything or looking at him. i don't know if it was that technique and/or him just growing out of it--i suspect it's mostly the latter. i bet your LO is going through a lot of developmental changes right now, and his naps will settle down eventually.

Hi ladies, I'm hoping someone has ANY idea I can try!
My 18 month old has been refusing naps for the last three weeks. He's never been a happy napper - Previously, I would let him cry in his crib for 10-15 min and he would sleep for 2 hrs. Now he might cry for over an hour and just won't go down at all.

He will nap in the car or stroller but I really resort to that very rarely. I've tried earlier (10, 11) and later (1, 2) I've tried milk, baths, cuddling, not cuddling, dark rooms, night lights. He is at the park every day, often walks almost a mild to and fro or swims - he has to be exhausted! I tried quiet days thinking he was overtired but that's even worse?

He's definitely not ready to drop his nap. He is miserable from about 3pm onwards and as the days go by he's getting crankier and crankier. Honestly my heart breaks for him, he's miserable and exhausted!

Night sleep is excellent - lay down drowsy and sleeps for 11.5 hrs exactly. (Usually 630pm-6am) Unfortunately he doesn't seem to be able to catch up the day sleep!

At my wits end, I don't know how to help him! Any ideas?
