It is simple, very cushioney like a bumbo seat almost. Lo pooped on the toilet the very first time we used this seat. She likes sitting on it. We like both as they are softer on the bottom. The prince lionheart wee pod almost didn't extend far enough to "fit" our toilet seat but it managed to work. It does require cleaning as in taking it apart completely (which isn't hard) but that is to be expected. If you're looking for a potty seat, I'd also recommend the Bjorn seat. LO is still in diapers but we keep the potty where he can see it and try it from time to time.
