We decided to go ahead with some of the diagnostics and the vet was so wonderful about bringing the cost down as much as possible. It's probably going to be a crazy waste of money, but we just couldn't bear to not do everything we could.</p> <p>@StrawberryBee: they did check for that and I thought it might be that, but the ultrasound didn't show the fatty deposits. Apparently cat livers can't process fat very well if they go off their foods. Our cat started liver failure as well but it was because he kept throwing up/has a food allergy, so we had a feeding tube installed to force him to take on nutrients.
