We started our routine at about 3 months, and it's the same now at 8.5 months. We do pajamas, diaper change, story, prayers, nursing, and then put her to bed awake (usually, unless she falls asleep nursing). On nights we need to bathe her, we add the bath before the routine starts.

We are consistent with our routine.

First DH play and talk to LO while I get his bath and clothes ready, then after his bath I rub him down with lotion and get him dress and then brush his hair and feed him I'm the glider til he falls asleep and then in his crib he goes for the night

I get home at 6, feed her, walk her around to say goodnight to the rooms in the house, at around 6:30 go to her nursery, change her diaper and put on PJs and sleepsack, then put on her lullaby music and dance with her until she shows hunger signals (I nurse to sleep). It's simple, but it works great, and as soon as she hears the lullaby, she's ready! We had trouble getting her to sit still for a book at that hour but we may add that later. And the bath seems to wake her up, so we don't do it at night.

We've been using the same routine roughly since she was about 6 weeks or so.

Bath (alternating soap every other day)
Diaper
Lotion
Brush Hair
Used to do Pjs until we started using the miracle blanket, she would get too hot with Pjs and that, so she stays in her diaper.
Nurse 1 side
Swaddle
White Noise
Nurse other side until asleep/sleepy
Crib!

We've had the same exact routine since our LO was 4 weeks old. It works great because even if we are out of town, as long as the routine is the same, he goes down easy. Our routine:

- Bath
- Lotion/diaper/pajama process
- Feed and read story
- Pray, and then read a short poem - it's the same one every night, called "Wherever You Go." I think the cadence and just recognizing it helps soothe him.
- Rock for a few minutes and then into the crib with white noise machine on

At about 10 weeks I think we started doing nightly baths. Every other night we'd just rinse her with water & skip soap. Then lotion, PJs, nurse, bottle (we supplement), swaddle (we didn't swaddle wean until 4 months) & rock to sleep.

Now at 6.5 months it's the same except we do some basic hair care after bath & she goes down very drowsy but awake. Lately we have been playing in the bath while the water runs. I have given up on bedtime books - when she's getting tired sitting & reading is no fun for her.

At that age, we did either bath (every few days) or wipe down with a damp cloth, diaper, lotion, onesie/pjs, swaddle sack (we used halos with velcro), white noise on, nurse to sleep, place in rock n play. We were consistent and it wasn't bad.

Our routine is pretty much the same now at 7 months except we do bath every night, we use a sleep sack instead of a swaddle, and she's in the crib instead of the rock n play. We try to read one book after we get her pjs on as well.

Between 4-5 months, I messed it up by playing with various permutations of swaddling and not, rock n play vs crib vs our bed, merlin suit, and other stuff. I look back and realize that the best times have been when we were very consistent with our routine.

Bath, diaper, lotion, pj's, swaddle, nurse for like an hour (total comfort nurser), and hold her till she was dead asleep and then I could put her down.

DS is almost 7 weeks and we are just starting a routine of bath, warm towel, lotion, warm sleeper, DH gives him a bottle of pumped milk, swaddle, white noise, bed! It's been working well. We start the routine between 60-90 mins after he wakes up from his last nap.

We started our bedtime routine at 3 months that we still use now at almost 2 years.

Nursing, read 3 books, 3 songs, rock to sleep, put in crib.
-We later adjusted that to cut out the rock to sleep.
-Later adjusted to remove the nursing.

Ours is/was similar to @Ajsmommy. DD can't tolerate much after her bath -- she usually starts roaring as we try to get her diaper and pjs on, so we do it as quickly as possible and then she nurses. Occasionally she nurses to sleep but if she's still awake when she's done eating, I sing a lullaby and then hold her quietly for a bit while she winds down and goes into sleep mode. When she was younger, I had to wait until she was asleep to put her in the crib, but from about 4.5 months on I've been able to put her down drowsy and she finishes falling asleep in the crib.

Our routine is home from work/daycare, playtime, books and then when she showed sleepy ques (rubbing eyes, angry "talking") upstairs, change diaper, nurse in glider until she's asleep. If it's bath night we do bath in place of playtime.

Bath, pj's, lights out and fan on, then I would nurse her on the glider. If we were late home then we'd skip bath. Oh, and somewhere in there her older sister will come in for goodnight kisses :)

Need to get a better routine for DD so maybe she will go down easier at night. I haven't been consistent with things either.

What was your bedtime routine like for a 3 month old? Were you consistent (every night)?
