I have PCOS and when I came off of BC I had one normal-ish cycle (42 days) and then had to go through a few cycles of provera to induce periods after my cycles stretched to almost 60 days. My GYN wouldn't do anything for me except prescribe provera and sent me to an RE (which is who diagnosed the PCOS).

I did 2 cycles with Clomid. The first cycle I had to do 3 different doses (50mg, 100mg, 150mg) and it ended with a CP. The 2nd cycle we did 150mg and 200mg and no ovulation, cycle was cancelled. My RE told me I was a poor responder to Clomid and that if I kept going with it, it was possible it would work some months and not others, but she recommended I try something else.

I did get pregnant 2 cycles later using Femara and Gonal-F. So don't give up if Clomid doesn't work for you. I have the most stubborn ovaries I've ever heard of, and I managed to ovulate two eggs on my last cycle, and it only took 4 to get a sticky baby :).

I ovulate on my own but with pretty long cycles, 42-45 days. All test normal for me and my husband so we're just unexplained. I did one round at 50mg and had my shortest cycle at just 32 days, but BFP. Second time, 50mg again, but didn't O until CD35. This was unmonitored with my RE. I just ended a natural cycle, O'd CD29. Going to try 100mg with trigger this cycle. I'm also going to request to try an IUI with this when I go in on Friday for baseline u/s and bloodwork.

I ovulated on my own, although my gyn said I didn't because my 7dpo progesterone test was 3.1 :( However, I was temping and had a clear temp shift every month. My RE later said that the reason for the low progesterone reading was just that I was 2 days away from getting my period (I had a short LP).

I started taking Clomid because we had been TTC for a year with no luck. I took 50mg for two cycles and I don't think it was a high enough dose, because I still ovulated at the usual time (CD 18-20), and my LP was still short. I then did 3 IUI's with Clomid (100mg) and on those cycles I ovulated earlier, I think CD 15 or so. I did one more IUI with Femara (only because I had done too many Clomid cycles in a row) and on Femara I ovulated on CD 13. None of those worked for me, and I just finished my first round of IVF, which was also unsuccessful. Our dx is unexplained IF - all tests within normal ranges.

I was diagnosed with PCOS and referred to a RE before we even started TTC (since the treatments for my condition were either getting back on the pill or starting clomid). I was not ovulating and I bled for months on end.

After months of testing I finally started my first dose of Clomid at 50mg. I don't know if I actually ovulated since the center shut down during hurricane Sandy, but I did get my period so they predicted that I did.

My second cycle started out at 50 mg then I was bumped up to 100 mg after I was showing a weak response. I tested positive on an OPK and went in the next morning for an IUI. 9 months later my son was born :)

If I remember correctly, it was supposed to be over 10 on a medicated cycle. I could be wrong though...or my doctor could have been. My progesterone was 37 at 13dpo. I actually released 2 eggs! I wasn't taking any progesterone supplements.

I ovulate on my own with pretty regular cycles, but I took 50 mg of clomid to up my chances of getting pregnant after trying for awhile. It didn't work, and just one round really thinned my uterine lining. That's why I'm a big proponent of being monitored while taking these drugs. I hope you have better luck and it ends in a BFP for you!

@Tidybee: wait, so any amount of progesterone indicates O? So, when she says she's looking for a 10 or higher, that means strong O or what? Also, do you by any chance remember what your prog levels were after your 2nd round of clomid?

I think I ovulated on my own. Progesterone was 4.5 at day 21 indicating ovulation (over 4) but my doc thought that it was a weak ovulation. I took 100 mg clomid days 3-7 and then had an IUI which failed. The second month, same clomid dose and got pregnant the good old fashioned way.
ETA - that was on cycle 12 of TTC (not 2!)

I took 50mg clomid due to not ovulating. i didn't get pregnant on my first cycle, but got pregnant on my second with iui. unfortunately i miscarried at almost 9 weeks just after my re released me to my ob. i had one prior miscarriage to taking the clomid. i took a 2 year break after that and had both kids without any fertility treatments.

i have many friends that conceived successfully on clomid though!

My first ever dose was 50mg for 5 days in December 2010. I didn't ovulate that month, so she bumped me up to 100mg for 10 days. Then I got pregnant with Chloe!

Since I had a mature follicle on 6 days of clomid, that's what we stuck with the next two cycles! I took it CD 3-8 & started using OPKs on CD12-15.

@CupQuakeWalk: I blogged about our first clomid experience, if you want to look through my archives.. I went through a lot of IF testing before I was put on Clomid. I took 100mg for 10 days, and Od on CD17 the cycle I conceived Chloe.

Since that regimen worked for one pregnancy, my RE repeated that when we tried to TTC #2. I had symptoms of OHSS, though, and stopped Clomid on day 6. I had a 28mm follicle on CD17, but had no signs of a surge, so I got the trigger shot to make me ovulate. BFN that month.

I did get pregnant on my third cycle. I noticed EWCM on CD10 and that's it. I didn't O until CD15, which is early for me. I had no other symptoms while using Clomid that month. I found out on 10DPO that I was pregnant!

Do you have any specific questions about taking clomid?

I have not ovulated in a little over 9 months. My progesterone numbers on day 21 at averaging 5.3 :(
I m taking 50mg clomid cd 3-7.
FX it works.

My doctor seems to think I am a good candidate for clomid to work the first time only because I have had a child before with zero intervention and everything else in healthy (my other levels are good). Also, I get STRONG positives for 2-3 days straight every cycle, so she believes my body is trying to O, but just needs a nudge. Let's hope she's right.
